Oaklawn Psychiatric Center: what do users think?
Chuck Bowen: Their peer recovery team is full of rockstars! They work around the clock meeting people where they’re at and holding them accountable in their recovery journey. They will also work quickly to get those in need into inpatient treatment. Love this team!
Mark Pedzinski: neglects endangered severely mentally ill and gets away with it! I guess I'll efile civil tort suit against them for gross negligents!
T C: Update if you care at all about your well-being this is NOT the place to go. Therapist will discriminate because you are poor. Mine did ..Her Name Sarah ... if you have her as a Therapist you better not be poor, n you better have a ride or she will drop you. Her friend boss Emily called me with no resolution. They have blood on their hands. Cause if they are doing this to me they are doing this to other people and that's not healing. This place is very much the problem. not a solutionI hope and pray whoever is reading this do not waste your energy on this forsaken place.I put my faith n energy in my healing...just to be played by my therapist n her supervisor Brenda . They don't care.. epworth staff is cold. No questions answered cold tone..no one cares . Hopefully someone on the 800 suicide hotline does...
Rwings73: Very professional. The therapists and counselors are great.
Jacqlynn Lee: My anger and anxiety keeps getting worse
Darth Banana: The Tip Advisor program at Oaklawn got me out of a very difficult situation. There was a place I was living at that was constantly having Covid lockdowns so most of the time I couldn't go outside much less get a job. However having someone from the outside vouching for me and helping me work towards getting me a new place to live was crucial for me getting the place that I live in now. If you are unable to become independent by yourself for any reason I highly recommend the Tip Advisor program at Oaklawn.
R B: I do not recommend SK
Luke Taylor: This place causes more trauma than they fix. Lol.
Jennifer Phillips: Trying to write prescriptions for medication i told them does not work and it's physically harming my body. Also trying to write prescriptions for medication that I have not taken in over 2 years because they've been recalled and discontinued. Oaklawn you have not helped me once not even with case management when they said they would be there at certification for rent and you never showed up or answered your phone. You guys did more harm than good you're supposed to help not hurt. Sad I have given you guys chance after chance to be professional with my mental health and my needs and you didn't. I now have to find a new facility.
Kristin Baker: Every single time I’ve even called this place the receptionist has been EXTREMELY rude. She has a horrible attitude and rather than try to help people who obviously need it she just makes our situations worse. I would never recommend anyone to go here because of her. People in fragile mental states don’t need attitude from someone who accidentally got a name wrong. Yes she got very very snippy because I accidentally got a doctors name mixed up. Ma’am if you see this go get a new job in a warehouse where your NOT around other people.
Free Money: Amazing amazing amazing. Oaklawn has truly saved my life more than once. They care and I promise if you open yourself up to their care they won't give up on you and your fight to recovery and health will never end! And there is hope when hope is lost. Thank you Oaklawn.A special personal thank you to Dr. Brucker, Lorie, and Stephanie. You all have impacted and continue to impact my life in such a positive way that I am able to continue living and fighting to live a healthy happy life because of you all! I'm forever greatful!
Heather Martin: I cannot speak for other departments, but the adult clinical therapists are all caring and well-trained. As part of this team, I know first-hand that my supervisor and all fellow therapists put in our all for clients. I've worked 2 other places and they were unorganized, burnt out, and full of gossip. This is a supportive and well-organized place. If you are looking for therapy, we are here for you and will do our best.
A.: Beth was very rude and under-minding while I was setting my appointment. She laughed at me and said a heartless apology.
Alex Walker: A highly unprofessional impression from this place.I called them to set up services, and the lady on the phone was extremely unsympathetic and rude. Like I’m not sorry I’m new and asking questions about the process and protocol of your facility. I was also on the waitlist at one point. They never called or left the three voice mails like they said they would. Now I’m on the wait list again, despite the lady suggesting that it was hopeless and to just get private services. She needs to either be retrained or fired, because as a behavioural health receptionist you can’t be making your potential clients feel like garbage when they seek help for already feeling like garbage. If you can, I’d avoid seeking help from here. If their therapists are anything like the first line of people you meet, then that is one big YIKE!
Amy K. Andrews: Trash.
Rosemary Wessel: I think that they try to help, but aren't as good as some. What can I say about them; they have too many people to care for and to little time.
Herb Bolden: Beautiful Scenery
James Kauzlarich: A decent place for low cost psychiatric care. But the front desk staff in the Physicians floor can be extraordinary rude and unsympathetic. Especially if you mention any displeasure with Oaklawn's rules, they seem to take it as a personal insult, and really need to get a job outside of psychiatric care, because they are not suited for it. They are also discouraging when you come to make an appointment, or pick up patient assistance medications, Etc. They often don't know what they're talking about, so don't let them discourage you from what you're trying to do and insist that they pass on messages to the people and doctors you are trying to contact.
Yvonne Sanders: Oaklawn was one of the best out patient office's in South Bend. I was a patient there for 15 year's! I've been with several different Psychiatrists over the year's! My Psychiatrist took it upon herself to stop prescribing me my medication! She has power issue's and is by far the worst psychiatrist I've ever had. One time she was looking at my medication list on her phone and accused me of taking prescription pain pills and I told her I didn't. She then proceeded to threaten me with a blood draw. I told her ok! She just dropped it because she knew I could pass the blood test! She is rude, don't ever set a glass or a bottle of water on her desk! She is a germ freak. Started seeing her in 2016! My other psychiatrist left Oaklawn, Beatrice Brewer! Going to my appointments when she was there was fun and down to earth! Dr. Brewer you are missed by many of us! So August 29th, 2018 she stopped prescribing me my medications. Didn't even give me a 30 day notice. She is condescending, repeating my name over and over again. Very unprofessional to say the least! Whoever ever reads this I wish you the best of luck! I've never missed an appointment in 15 year's! When I missed an appointment, she threatened me in her own way! ! She is a control freak and I feel bad for other patient's who can't advocate on their own behalf! When it comes to medication changes, the decision should be made by both the patient and Psychiatrist! She doesn't see it that way! What a shame! Thank god that there are other mental health facilities!
Phil Eddy: HORRIBLE, STATE & FEDERAL MENTAL HEALTH LAW BREAKERS, MENTALLY ABUSIVE & VERBALLY, OVER MEDICATING PRESCRIBED DOCTORS,CASEWORKERS OVER LOAD WITH TOO CLIENTS NOT ENOUGH TIME FOR EVERYONE, ETC; ETC;

Ahmed Z. Elmaadawi, MD: what do users think?
Henry Hahn: Saved my wife's life with ECT treatments. Great Doctor.
Jef Burger: Do not use this doctorMy psychiatrist recommended that I undergo ECT treatments for depression, and referred me to Dr. Elmaadawi at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. At the initial consultation he seemed pleasant, patiently answered our questions, and made sure I understood that if ECT didn't work there were other treatments available. So I underwent 17 treatments. Dr Elmaadawi increased the number of treatments because I wasn't doing as well as we had hoped. I didn't finish all of the treatments because the last one I did was traumatic.ECT is done under anesthesia, so the patient is asleep during the procedure. During the last treatment I woke up, the anesthesiologist had already injected the muscle relaxer so I was unable to move. When I woke up I was confused, I didn't know if the procedure was completed or not, but then I felt/heard the pop when Dr. Elmaadawi sent the electricity into my head. i I was awake for the seizure, but unable to move or even speak due to the breathing tube in my throat. I don't know that Dr Elmaadawi was aware that I was awake because he never came and spoke to me.The next day I called Dr Elmaadawi's office and spoke to Erin in "Interventional Psychiatry" and explained to her what I had gone through the day before, and told her that I would not be returning for any future appointments for the treatments, as I was unwilling to take a chance of that happening again. She told me that she would tell Dr Elmadaawi what happened and take me off the schedule. And that was the last time that I spoke to anyone from that office. No one has ever called me about this traumatic experience, to make sure that I was alright, apologize, or try to explain what might have happened or even offer different treatment options.I was really hurt by the last treatment and still deal with the trauma of the memory almost daily.Dr Elmaadawi or his staff have apparently don't care about an injury to their patient, because I have been completely ignored.I can't recommend this doctor considering his apparent lack of care.
Nancy Seeley: He was so warm and caring to my child when they initially met via a 72 hour hold. He has messed up my child's disability claim because he doesn't label people , so no diagnosis = no disability. He has also refused to put her on a medication that had done miracles because he felt she would not be compliant. That was my battle, not his. His staff is very helpful and I feel they go "above and beyond ".
Shayna Breslin: Kind, humble, brilliant and never gives up on you.

He makes sure to educate you on the medications, potential side effects and when you should see improvement. Kathryn A. Kenney, DO, MBA: what do users think?
Cortney Hall: She was my psychiatrist when I first started seeking help. She was at the University of Cincinnati finishing up her residency at the time. Dr. Kenney is extremely compassionate and took the time to listen to me and made sure she understood what I was saying. She gave me her reasons for wanting to prescribe certain things and when I had reservations about side effects, she took that into consideration. When I had suggestions for new meds to try, we discussed them. I never felt pressured to take meds I didn't want to take. I felt like we were equals. I haven't had any psychiatrist or doctor treat me like an equal before or since. Dr. Kenney is the absolute best psychiatrist I've ever seen and IN is lucky to have her.
