We love growing relationships close to home. Sprouted from the concept of connecting farmers with local consumers, Purple Porch Food Co-op hasn't forgotten its roots. Our LOCAL suppliers, vendors, farmers, and makers are located within an 1 hour drive or so of our store (60 miles). Our REGIONAL Midwest-based suppliers are designated as those within 300 miles of our front door. We strive to give preference to such vendors, in terms of retail space on our shelves, a special place in our hearts, and vendor spots at our weekly Farmer's Market. The Porch values supporting local entrepreneurs who are passionate and driven to contribute to our community. Our health - economically, nutritionally, and relationally - is made so much richer through these local collaborations.

4worldlovers: We’re committed to sustainability, stewardship and feeding the hungry in our community.

63,000 people across the three counties we serve are food insecure. That means they aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from.


133 billion pounds of food are wasted in the USA every year.

That means wasted resources are going straight into landfills. Additionally, once in landfills, this food gives off methane gas which has long-term environmental effects.

We’re not letting that happen in our community! We’re rescuing over one million pounds of food each year, cooking it, packaging it, freezing it and feeding people instead of watching our neighbors go hungry.

Local grocery stores, restaurants, manufacturers, and distributors let us know they have excess, good, unused food.

We send out our fleet of refrigerated trucks to rescue the food to prevent it from reaching a landfill.

Once that food comes into our warehouse our staff and volunteers organize it, inventory it, store it, prepare it, or package it into our trademark frozen meals.

These meals and other pantry staples are sent out to local churches, food banks, homeless shelters, and schools to feed the most vulnerable in our community.
