Amanda Hirschy (Foodie with the booty): Such a beautiful spot downtown. Totally worth the $7 adult admission. Very peaceful and not overly crowded. Get a coffee and walk through at your own pace. Gift store has over 35 local brands to buy different handmade products from. Go check it out!

Shelly Barton: Always something amazing to see. Exhibits are always fun to wander through and they change often enough to keep you coming back. Their gift shop has the cutest and unique finds, definitely worth a peek. Great to take the family to or spend some time solo enjoying the serenity. Plus, their location is super convenient to some great restaurants and downtown attractions.

Mom Survival: WOW! I’ve lived with in an hour of Fort Wayne my entire life and I can’t believe I never knew this place existed. It was so cool! We took our toddler and he absolutely had a blast walking through everything.he especially loved the area with indoor slide and sand. Absolutely beautiful and well worth a second visit. We will be back.

Mehrin Shahed: Quite a varied selection of shrubs, perennials and annuals. Loved that all plants were labeled. I find it extremely useful to see actual plantings so I know the color of the flowers, as well as the size and shape of the bush. Came back with a list of plants for next season :)

Nick Bella: I used to visit back when Pokémon Go came out, mean... who didn’t? But it’s super nice, the gazebo is a great place to chill. I didn’t go to college at Purdue but my dad was a professor and I used to visit to walk the trails and of course... hit up Pokémon go... fun stuff!

There's are good places for pokemon go. The river view is cool. I wouldn't take my kid there unless they have toys to play with

Joshua A: This can be a very quiet, secluded, and relaxing place to get away and unwind. There are a decent amount of benches along the path, or the large gazebo could also be used. For being so shaded and lots of shrubbery around the bugs really aren't too bad. It's worth checking out if you're feeling stressed and need a minute to collect yourself and your thoughts.

The uncredited 1912 master plan for Lakeside Park is likely the work of renowned landscape architect, George Kessler, who designed the Park and Boulevard Plan for Fort Wayne the same year.
Throughout the park walks connect to the nearby street grid. Historic photographs reveal ornate furniture and flowerbeds. Four lagoons, both natural and excavated, are featured in the original plans, along with serpentine paths, a curvilinear drive, and bridges leading to islands in the lagoons.

Creating a new Little Free Library was thought of by Nicole as a dedication project for a co-worker, Josie, who celebrated 20 years of service with the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department. This truly was a team effort involving maintenance techs (constructed the library out of a tree), gardeners (carved out rotting wood and planted flagstone and the flower bed around the tree), Nicole’s painting skills as well as a neighbor girl who donated her time and stenciled the flowers and butterflies that are now present at the library. Another neighbor donated the window. The Lakeside Little Free Library has been in operation since the fall of 2019. Stop by the Little Free Library the next time you are near Lakeside Park and either pick up or drop off a book of your choosing!
A walking path circles around the park providing a nice loop for walking and enjoying the park. The path is a little over half a mile in length
Lakeside Pond is part of the DNR's urban fishing program called Go FishIN in the City .

Karen McMahon: We’ve been composting with Dirt Wain for over 3 years. After moving here from the west coast where it was actually law to use our compost vs putting food and yard waste in the garbage- we were shocked and sad to throw it away in Fort Wayne. Then we met Brett at the farmers market and we’re so excited to sign up with him. We had a little bucket we put in the porch and he picked it up.Now it’s so much better - he’s expanded and is picking up our yard waste and dog poo too!! Brett is a great person and so knowledgeable and educated about how to do all the composting. He also has fun events (bring your rotting pumpkins 🎃 event!!) .Thank you Brett for helping us make composting so easy!!
