Dean Brown: Checked in at midnight left 10 minutes later. Room had a nasty smell. It was very hot so we tried to turn on the air but the AC didn't work. My wife and I got nausea and left within 10 minutes. They refused to refund because we used the bathroom in that 10 minute period. Jay, the manager is terrible. Just stay at the quality inn next door.
Michael O'Loughlin: A very clean, comfortable and convenient place to stay when visiting the University of Notre Dame. The staff is very helpful and we appreciate their kindness to us during our stay. A very good value in the area. Highly recommend Perkins restaurant nearby for excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner. Adjacent to a 7-11 store for fuel and other travel needs. Very convenient to the highway. The hotel is about a 15 minute drive to University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Stadium.
Mary: Decent hotel in a rather odd area of town. Kind of dark, desolate feel to the area. Almost an abandoned type of feel. Room was clean. Breakfast was adequate- I just had cereal and yogurt. Staff is very friendly. Rooms not entirely sound proof. People outside standing around drinking. Very comfy bed. Though might not be my first choice if staying in the area again I would still feel ok to stay here if need be.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites South Bend - South, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?
Andy: This location looks to be pretty new and I found it to be in good condition. Our room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The common areas also looked to be well maintained. There was a typical sized pool for a HIE and it was a comfortable temperature. It was conveniently located right off the highway and there were several food options nearby. The breakfast area was well-stocked and kept clean. There were a couple issues I noticed, the first was the thermostat in our room, it had an error message on it and we were unable to adjust the temperature. Second the pool had an odd smell to it while we were using it; we attempted to use it in the morning before we left but were told we'd have to wait an hour because they were putting chemicals in it. I understand needing to clean the pool but it was frustrating that they didn't do this before the pool's posted open hours. Finally, we requested a room on a higher floor and we were given a room right off the lobby on the first floor. The hotel was pretty empty so it was not a matter of availability.Overall, it was a good place to stay as we passed through and the price was reasonable. I would stay here again.
Jennifer Newkirk: This hotel is not for groups. We had the police called on us for eating dinner in the dining area. Apparently people talking and eating at 6 pm was police worthy. No one was yelling, cursing, or drunk. No kids were being obnoxious. Everyone was quiet during mandatory quiet time. I've been attending tournaments for 5 years now. Heck, Drury Inn encourages families to hang out in the lobby! This was unreal. And before the manager said, "You were happy when I left", I was. I was until one of our families was double charged and you wouldn't even speak to him about it, saying he had to go to the tournament company. No, that's not the way this works. You charged him. You must refund him. You also did a round about now that we are not in the hotel and again made it seem like the families were the problem. So glad I took video. I will be sending it to corporate.Edit after manager responded: the guest that called the police was the guest in the lobby that was told to shut up twice by your staff. Further, don't you think it strange that all of us that have attended tournaments for years, some as much as 10 years, and this is the only time we've encountered a problem with hotel staff anywhere?
Jesse Wisdom: Hotel is fine for a hotel. The staff was unreasonable and called the police for eating dinner in the lobby/breakfast area. There were three groups not causing any issues. We were here for sports tournaments. If they don't want people in your hotel then they shouldn't partner with tournament companies that will fill their spaces. I do not recommend this hotel. I have never been treated this way at any hotel or resort.
Leah Foster: Communication is horrible between employees, you get different answers depending on who you talk too. Some employees were extremely nice and helpful and others weren't. The hallway smelled strong of weed from a birthday party that they had at the hotel in their rental space. The pool was nice and clean, and the room was clean as well.
Jakobi Lyons: I loved everything about my stay here at the hotel. The staff was great and welcoming. The only issues that I had is that we needed extra blankets for the kids and was told they were out and or weren’t clean by the time we went to sleep. As a father i kept my cool and just give my kids my blankets and just used the shower curtain as a blanket. Derry greatly apologized about what happened and gaves us a great compensation. Other then that I would book again.
jessica pedzinski: My boyfriend and I stayed there while visiting from out of town. Upon arriving it appeared to be a nice hotel, I have worked for a holiday inn myself, so I knew I would be welcomed and reminded why I stay at IHG properties. Upon walking into the lobby, we were immediately greeted with a friendly, warm smile. A young gentleman by the name Derry, was the agent checking us in. It was a quick and efficient check in process. He made sure to mention my boyfriends status, and told us about the perks we are receiving being IGH members. He even did an exceptional job telling us what was fun to do in the area, as it’s been a while since we have been in the area. You can tell Derry took pride and had passion in his job, he was so kind and admirable. It’s not often you come across workers in hospitality that are that way, especially after Covid. You can tell he will go far and is a wonderful asset to this team. (I can see him growing with the company and promoting with his personality and drive) We will definitely stay here again, and I’d like to think Derry made our visit extra special out of everyone we came across.

Robert Pitzer: For starters, my wife and I are frequent HIE visitors and "snobs" almost. So first thing I noticed was how clean, fresh, and new the South Bend HIE was. Yes, a spot or two may not have been SPOTLESS, but this location FAR EXCEEDS other hotels I've been too. What's more, I asked for a late check out. And as my workday progressed, I had a feeling I wouldn't make it back before the check out time (to change out of work clothes and such) so I called and spoke with Angela. She was more than accommodating and assured me I could come after the actual time.... which I did and was giving her my keys because I felt so bad, but she was adamant that it was fine, I should freshen up, relax, etc before traveling again.SO HOSPITABLE! I was blown away by Angela and the rest of her team there and look forward to my business bringing me back to the HIE-South Bend!Oh and one more thing specific to Angela I almost forgot.... she had been there all day and before her shift changed, her replacement called in unable to work, phone was ringing crazy, the elevator broke down, people were steadily coming to check in and she ONLY HAD A SMILE and positive words coming from her. Furthermore, between all this, she took the time to help a young lady schedule travel to get home for an emergency. Absolutely stellar job Angela!
Rob Simones: Staff breakfast rooms fine. But make sure you get receipt right at checkin. They will steal your money and rates will increase at checkout time and your card is charged do not expect your incidental charges to be returned they will add it to room rate I've been staying at motels constantly since 2019 and have never been stolen from my job puts me on road all year but I for sure will be staying elsewhere. Actually the comfort suites in Elkhart including taxes only charged 108 and there breakfast rooms and staff are good. Here they have laundry facilities and even offer laundry soap
Tone: They got two goats on their roster, S/O Angela and Carmen.Them Queens are what customer service is all about and I would like to show my appreciation and give them their flowers. They truly make you feel like family and make the stay comfortable THANK YOU LADIES. The hotel itself is a great stay, the beds and rooms are clean, the water pressure is on point, hot breakfast, and you can take a dip and get ripped cause they have a indoor pool and a fitness room so I highly recommend this place.

Angela V: Stop by the desk & say hi to them! The housekeepers are incredible & pay attention to detail. The staff are great, the lobby/breakfast area - clean!, the guest rooms are exactly what you need when your power is out and you just want to get away from the kids in your house! Ha! The new general manager & the sales manager are phenomenal human beings. Really can't get better than here!
lexi arndt: The service my family received was incredible! The women from the front desk to the housekeepers were fantastic! The lobby was clean & the rooms were meticulously cleaned! We already can not wait to come back for our next visit!!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5 …More
Ken Stinson: Amanda and Angela are simply amazing! They both go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible! They both are very friendly, welcoming, and very helpful with any needs you may have! Amanda went 3 floors to find me a comfy pillow! Angela checked me in friendly, professionally, and with a great attitude all while staying on the phone with an elderly couple to make sure they found their way to the hotel safely! Im Very grateful they work at the hotel I stay when I'm in town! Thank you Amanda and Angela for going the extra mile 👍❤️😎

Comfort Inn & Suites Mishawaka-South Bend: what do users think?
Angel Ware: This hotel was clean and efficient. The biggest boost for an over the road worker like me is the fact that so many amenities are within walking distance. Tons of food choices and shopping for the necessities.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

Chris Durden: I had my reservation. Walked in, and there was a short red headed girl working. could not get my credit card to work for some reason. My credit card company texted me and said they were entering in the information incorrectly. She assured me she wasn’t so I called my credit card company, they told me to insert the chip. But the hotels debit machines weren’t working for some reason so there was nothing she could do. She assured me the holiday in down the street was offering the same rate. I asked her to call ahead if I was going down there to make sure. She said she would. I walked 20 minutes with my suitcase to get there. Turns out they weren’t offering the same rate and she never called ahead. Wasted my time. I found a different hotel luckily. (Funnily enough no problem with my credit card there) but I walked back to this hotel first (another 20 minutes in the middle of the night). So I could make sure my reservation was canceled and I would not be charged. She told me I had to do it online which was not a problem. But I had to submit a request online to get the cancellation fees waived. I asked her to approve the request while I was there to make sure it was done. She told me she couldn’t but the general manager would be in, in the morning and assured me she would have the manager approve it. It has been a couple days and it has not been approved. This girl has lied and been lazy at every opportunity. Wasting my time having me walk all over due to their machines being down and her not inputting the information properly. I have zero idea why she’s the one working overnight. Avoid this place. Couldn’t get any worse for customer service.
Kaleb Lucas: The stay was awful and disgusting. If you like hotels that have rooms that have white stains on the sofa bed and broken dressers and broken heater/AC unit just hanging on the wall broken or better yet, HUGE urine stains on the mattresses, then this is the place for you. How is that sanitary and clean. It's horrible. They won't refund my money or anything. I was told by the assistant manager that all the stuff I took pics of pretty much wasn't there because other people that stayed there previously would of said something. So I guess it's my fault. Ridiculous!!! NEVER AGAIN will I stay there. EVER
K Nicole: Filthy! Sleep in your car. Bed clearly was dirty. Bathroom looked like someone used it a few minutes before I arrived. TV was not functional, lights flickered. Wouldn't be paid to walk barefoot on the carpet!!Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Jen Harder: My sister and I stayed here just to get away over night. We went into to room and first noticed a dead fly on the bed. Then we sit on the couch and my sister notice and empty bottle under the desk. My sister had worked at a hotel housekeeping for 16 years so she knows how things should be. She also notice the water stains on the curtains. Stuff on the desk, dresser and night stands. She was grossed out and we went to get cleaning wipes. I told the front desk about the bottle and the fly the rest we saw afterwards. We got a suite and decided to just stay in it because it was just for one night. I was laying on the bed watching TV and I got up and stepped on something that felt weird. I reached down and picked up 2 disposable contact lens stuck together with hair that wasn't ours. Gross! Then I noticed some things on the floor near the kitchenette which were very dried peas. During the stay I must have picked up at least 5 of them. Later the first day I went to put on socks and looked at my foot and noticed another contact lens stuck to my foot. I used 16000 points for this room. I am a gold member and hope to get some points returned. One thing a dislike is when housekeeping doesn't do their job and management doesn't pay attention. Oh also is the morning ( checkout is at noon) we were sleeping in. At 10am the front desk for some reason we around knocking on people's door including ours to find out when we were going to checkout. Never has this ever happened and I've stayed at many hotels. This place needs to have better training for all of their staff!
Yung Star: Clean rooms great staff hot breakfast
Tamara Wise: **** Update**** 8-24-2022,This hotel in Mishawaka IN WAS my fiance's and my favorite local stay until they hired a new general/property manager name Paul. We had a 4 night stay with a jacuzzi room booked online and were looking forward to the relaxing peace and quiet from the craziness of losing my fiance's father to COVID the beginning of 2022. As we arrived with our belongings and wore out, exhausted bodies, the thought of that jacuzzi sounded like heaven. Well, when we arrived we encountered Paul, a new office employee that we had never met. We gave him our names and reservation number eagerly awaiting the room keys! He then informed us that our payment had not gone through and he needed to slide our card for the $600 4 night stay. I explained that it had went through already on my end while paying for the reservation. He gave me some story that what I thought was the full payment was actually a hold or deposit on the room and he would now confirm the charge, as the "hold was pending" and would be returned to my card within 24 hours. I immediately knew something didn't seem right. That never happened before. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt, to exhausted to stand up for one more minute, and went to our lovely jacuzzi room. Two days went by and I had not gotten no deposit/holding fee back on the card. I contacted the bank twice, being told there was a ligit charge for the $600 but now it was on there twice. I asked that an email of a detailed print out be sent to me as I went to speak with yep, Paul. He was busy but 2 other front desk gals knew I had been double charged and even told me they were in messages with his higher up. Thank God, we would get our "holding" fee returned. So we went on our way not thinking much more about it. The next morning housekeeping told us Paul was new and made a mistake, clearly not his first double charged payments. So as I went to give him the print out emailed to me by the card company, he yelled at me and said he was the "MAN IN CHARGE, AND WHAT HE SAID WENT... On our 4th day we were wanting our extra charge returned or applied to our room for an additional 4 days. Paul reluctantly agreed after every other front desk employee was on to him, to extend our stay....BUT only 2 days NOT the 4 we paid for. I was on the phone with corporate for 3 hours and they credited me some points to use towards another room, at another time. I was so upset with Paul's cruel, disrespectful, arrogant, attitude I was literally in tears trying to explain, again on dead ears, he made an error and he needed to correct it. He told me if my fiance and I were not gone when his time was up I'd be arrested for trespassing... This man was a nightmare and looking back now, it was worth losing out on $300 just to be done with him.Everyone at Comfort Inn has always been super great, until that last time when a guy named Paul ruined it for us. So sad one little person like him can make all the difference in the world for the reputation of a company. My advice is to call ahead and ask if Paul is still there before booking this hotel!!Every time we have stayed at Comfort Inn we have enjoyed it! Rooms are clean with comfortable bed's and pillows. Staff is great every time. Will be back!Rooms: Clean rooms, housekeeping is the best, even though very over worked and under appreciated.Nearby activities: Next to Walmart, Krispy Kreme, Home Depot, Arby's, and many other locations within waking distance. Notre Dame is within miles!!Safety: Well lit area at night, locked windows and general feeling of safety in rooms.Wi-fi: Free wifi available.Food & drinks: Hot continental breakfast served every morning. Pop and snacks in vending machines on each floor.
Dave Cunningham: Room was filthy, blood (I hope red paint) on the curtains. Window was permanently fogged over, couldn't see out.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More

Chaes Gabriel William: High praise to the cleaning staff because this place was spotless. However:I was pretty upset to find, after I asked several times, if they could accommodate my allergies for breakfast, they actually could not. The excuse? Because it was a weekend… I asked when I called to book our room and again at check in if they could accommodate my allergies. Getting to breakfast only to find they’re not cooking food to order because it’s a weekend and there’s a group of hockey kids there…. pretty unacceptable. All I wanted was oatmeal, potatoes, and fruit. This allergy friendly option should be available at any time no matter the day of the week.

Mitch Allen: I would stay exclusively at this hotel when it comes to Corporate Lodging in the South Bend area. Clean, quiet, and courteous. This Hilton also Honors reward points at Corporate Rate. Not many hotels nowadays seem to want to do that. Take my business please Hilton Garden Inn South Bend!
Harry Allen: These people know Game Day!!
Heidi J: Overall A+. The staff was friendly, room clean, love the property, well maintained, our room had a sliding back door which was an awesome bonus. The restaurant staff was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Our drinks that the bar were delicious. The only slight negative could be the fact that our handicapped room bathroom door does not stay open. So we had to prop it open with heavy items or it quickly shut because of the weight of that door. We are not handicapped, but it was annoying in general. Our coffee maker at first attempt exploded coffee all over. We advised the front staff, said would be replaced. It was not. The room was very dark. Not enough lighting and lights were dim. These setbacks were overall minor compared to most hotels of comparable price points. The fact that there is food on site and a bar, friendly staff, clean and well maintained prop is refreshing!! We were able to walk to points of interest (notre dame).
