A Fighting Chance Rape Prevention & Self-Defense for Women: what do users think?
Dawn Howell: This class was great! The instructor and 'bad guy' were both understanding and encouraging throughout the entire session. They adapted to my needs so that I was able to get through the class. I recommend this to any and every woman!
Mary Godby: I loved this class for myself and the 3 young ladies heading to college that went with me. It is exactly what I was looking for - techniques for fighting an assault and education. I honestly feel like the educational portion is most valuable. Specifically for women. So needed. Marita is caring and stayed as long as we needed to teach and answer questions.
Claudia Capuano: HIGHLY recommend.Marita has built us a safe zone! All women of all walks are so welcome.Marita takes great care in slowly and confidently building a muscle memory to prepare and strengthen us women. She allows us to have a fighting chance if we are caught in situations that we could otherwise not know how to help ourselves. She is patient, graceful, she is clear, she is informative. The most heartfelt thanks to Dwane. This class is worth every minute, and is very reasonably priced. I'll be back for more.
Josie Haydock: I went to a self defense class, and it was great! It wasn't intimidating at all, and I learned a lot. I took the class with my sisters and mom and had a lot of fun!
Amy Kaiser: I would recommend this class to anyone, something every woman should take. The instructor is great! Thank you!
Jessica Konrad: The techniques were easy to learn and use and make me feel that if I am attacked, I will be able to defend myself. Practicing with a fake "bad guy" also really helped to know how to use the moves in real life. Because I took these classes, I feel much safer in my day-to-day life and confident in my ability to prevent dangerous situations and protect myself in an attack.
Amy Harris: I'm really glad I took this class - the techniques taught were practical, but not things I'd ever have thought of doing. And getting to practice the movements definitely made me feel more confident that I understood what to do (and what not to do!).
kathy sharpe: Very helpful. I highly recommend this class.
Melissa Routt: I took the phase 1 class today with our girls, and I can’t say enough great things about it!! The instructors were fantastic! Very informative. Easy to understand. Hands on lessons in self defense that EVERY female should know. Comfortable environment. Intense topics that were covered in a very mature and suitable way. If you’re looking for a great starter class, this is it!!
Emily Dunn: Excellent experience in a safe environment.
Jennifer Davis-Fink: I organized a Phase 1 private class for my daughter and her close friends who were headed to college and attended along with the other mothers. We can't say enough good things about this class. Marita, the instructor, has so much knowledge to share and made it all very easy to understand. She is obviously very passionate about self defense from a woman's perspective and taught us not only some self defense moves but how to be more aware, pay attention to our surroundings and trust our instincts. We were all a little uncomfortable at the start of class, not knowing what to expect and unsure of our physical abilities, but very quickly, we were put at ease and even my 70+ year old mother-in-law was getting away from the "bad guy". Our "bad guy" was also knowledgeable and understanding while encouraging us not to go easy on him. He and Marita were very patient in coaching us and let us try until we got it right if we wanted to. There was no pressure to do anything you didn't want to do - but none of us wanted to skip anything. Best of all, our daughters came out with a new view on their personal safety and some new perspectives on previously held beliefs. Thank you, Marita, for this class - you'll see us again for Phase 2!
Rachel Saldutti: I think each and every woman should take a class like this. Marita is so knowledgeable and so helpful. This class really equips you for real life situations that you could encounter. I felt so much better after taking the class, a little more powerful, and would highly highly recommend it. Thanks Marita!
Sam & Danelle King: I cannot say enough good things about this class. There is nothing out there like it that I know of. It was a nice balance of educational and physical training. I attended with my daughters and felt they were given useful tools and the confidence to carry it out. This really needs to be something that every woman attends. Thank you so much for the professionalism and sensitivity and for making each one of us feel worth it.
A. Rob: Marita was an oustanding instructor. I have learned a lot in my one self defense class that I will take with me forever. I look forward to other classes!!
Jenn H: Excellent class! The most useful part was getting to kick/hit with full force to see if you actually could defend yourself. I would highly recommend to anyone; I loved that many high school seniors were in the class. It's a great preparation for leaving home, especially since women are taught to be "nice" and not set proper boundaries.
Kris S: Such a valuable course for my preteen and teen daughters and myself! Highly recommend it. Marita and the “bad guy” are genuine in their goal of empowering women to defend themselves. Supportive environment for the moment we walked in. Thank you Marita/instructors for doing what you do!
BenJeriAnnaMaya Taylor: My daughters and I had a positive and empowering experience! It is a respectful environment which allows users to practice what is taught. I could imagine a scenario and think it through, but physically acting out the situation makes it real and gives me the tools to use, if needed. It is a comfortable environment in which to learn and there is a wealth of knowledge given. I highly recommend females of all ages to attend this class.
Christen Cantos: Marita does an outstanding job. Her classes are very effective. I took Phase 2 yesterday and Phase 1 last year. So glad I did. Her classes helped my self confidence and my assertiveness. Thank you Marita, you come highly recommended!
Kristen P: This class is awesome. Marita who teaches this course is both sensitive to the topic and very knowledgeable for how to get out of such a situation. The class focuses on several techniques that are taught and applied in the course with a 'bad guy'. I took this course in order to really try to be prepared just in case I was ever put in such a situation - and how to best try to prevent it or get away. I highly recommend this course.

School of Self Defense: what do users think?
Lauren Stark: My mom and I attended with no prior martial arts experience and loved the class! He was very informative and gave instructive corrections. The class gave us confidence to learn more.
Avery Puno: Michael was a skillful, profesional teacher who made learning easy and taught valuable life lessons that I will use now and in my future years
FreddyFazbear: Amazing instruction! I learned so much. Thank you!
Christy W: I booked a private class with my teen sons and we had a great experience. Very helpful and useful strategies/techniques for self-defense.
Chris Lovely: I can't begin to express the passion and expertise that this school radiates. The instructor is easily one of if not the best I've worked with as well as one of the most knowledgeable. The community the students and instructor have cultivated is one of support and learning. I have never had the pleasure of working with a better group of people.
Mary Susan Buhner: WOW! The School of Self Defense was AMAZING! The instructor, Michael, exceeded my expectation in every way! I signed up with my three daughters ages 15-21 years old. All four of us were blown away with how much we learned. Michael is incredibly professional, knowledgable and does an excellent job communicating and teaching! 5 STARS for sure!
Maxwell Spicer: A wonderful place to learn Self Defense. They have multiple classes available and the instructor helped me find classes that worked around my busy schedule. Every class so far has been wonderful.
Amanda Valenti: Very cool classes. Lots of variety of classes taught but every one of them is super high quality. All of the students there were really friendly and helpful, I feel really welcome and always learn a lot.
Mike Smith: I researched many local schools before I chose a school to attend. In my opinion... I belive you need a school that fits your needs. The School of Self Defense offers traditional martial arts, as well as self defense (MMA FOR THE STREETS) that is applicable for real- world situations. The lead instructor is very knowledgeable, and the students are very friendly. I would highly recommend this school to anyone (beginners or advanced) looking to train martial arts.
Heather Beers: I'm very impressed with my experience at the School of Self Defense. The instruction is high quality, tailored to students' individual needs and the instructor has truly built a community among the students. I can't wait to see where my training takes me.
Deanne Birchall: Michael Valenti allowed me to participate in a free self defense class to get a feel for the instruction and environment, prior to my wanting to sign up for his Self Defense 101 course. Though I was the only woman in the class, the guys were welcoming, incredibly nice, and the instruction by Michael and his assistants was fantastic. Would highly recommend.
Saint Fields: I'm joining this art of Wing Chun and I will train and learn more about it's roots . I want to learn the rest of the other arts in this school and create my own martial art style as well . wish me luck .
Brandon Gilmore: This is a great school for people who are serious about learning real world self defense techniques. The instructor is extremely knowledgeable and is very approachable. He is also good at making each class meaningful for all skill levels. If you come to this school with the intent of learning real, useable skills, you will not be disappointed.
Rob Weeden: Techniques you can use day one! Great energy and great atmosphere. Instructor has materials for any body type and any age. You will enjoy your time and walk out with usable material within the 1st hour.
Erin Dixon-Gonzalez: Michael Valenti is a very respectful and skilled instructor. I felt welcomed and comfortable from the moment I walked in the door. The 'progressive self defense' system is the real deal, too. This isn't a 1-hour 'kick 'em in the balls' seminar, this is a heavily tested and scrutinized system of fighting, drawing from high level BJJ, Kenpo, and other martial arts.
Bryndon Preston: This school is phenomenal. If you are serious about self defense or just want to broaden your martial arts horizons with Wing Chun, Kali, Kickboxing, Jujitsu and Judo, then you have to check this out. The instructor has 20 plus years of martial arts training, he's a black belt in multiple styles of martial arts, and he's a great guy.Say goodbye to the ego, and the "I'm always right" mentality found in other martial arts schools. Here you will find an instructor who really cares about helping you learn and grow as a martial artist and as a person. If you have questions he's got answers, and the thought process and research behind those answers is incredibly well researched and thought out and then tested over and over. Michael doesn't just want to know if it works, he wants to discover if it works best. He wants the best for his students, and he has poured years of research and training into developing his system that helps you stay safe.I have always struggled with physical coordination, but Michael takes my strengths and helps me maximize those. He also helps me adapt grow in the areas where I struggle. I have seen incredible progress in the time I've been studying with him. He is kind and courteous to every person who comes in to train with him and his students, and he genuinely wants the best for you.The training is effective and you see results so quickly. Many martial arts styles save all the really good and effective techniques till the end of your training. Not Michael, he starts you with a great foundation of incredibly effective techniques, and then helps you refine and grow from that foundation. This allows you to develop a skill set quickly and effectively, and you will love the results you see.The quality of instruction for the price you pay is a phenomenal value. Michael gives you a generous schedule in which to train, and you will be hard pressed to find a better value for the classes he offers.Even if you have physical limitations, even if you aren't in great shape, and if you are wondering if martial arts is right for you then you owe it to yourself to give this a try. You won't be sorry you did!
Abraham Muhammad: The instruction is phenomenal. Also, not only is the instructor a beast, he's one of the nicest and realist guys I've ever met in the manual arts world.
Jenny Ward: Michael is a wonderful instructor. My daughter did great with his instruction. Glad the school moved to the north-side of town. Wonderful training for a terrific price point. I would highly recommend this school.

Level 10 Martial Arts College: what do users think?
Jackelyn Winingham: My son has been going here for over a year. We love it! Great environment and everyone is so friendly.
Cal Hultquist: My 16 year old son is thriving at Level 10. He has a learning disability but has really taken to martial arts. I would recommend it highly to parents of spectrum kids. They can use that focus to develop physical and interpersonal skills they'll use in the real world. The staff are kind and patient and teach excellent values. They tell kids the truth... one day you may have to defend yourself due to no fault of your own... but they do not teach aggression. Having 15 years in law enforcement and investigations, I know this is a true fact of life. Sometimes you can live the most peaceful life but violence can try to victimize your child and I want my son to have a fighting chance. If he never has to use these skills in self-defense, hey at least we got him out from behind a video game console! We're in this until the black belt.
K. Moore-Simpson: My grandson has been taking classes here for years. A great place and activity for young and old alike. Classes vary.
Mariah Callis Goodwin: Can’t speak highly enough! The owners are so friendly and kind while running a great business. I’ve been taking classes for over 6 months now and have enjoyed every minute. It’s a great place for kids to learn discipline and consideration through martial arts. It’s also a amazing place for adults to learn - I was hesitant as a woman entering a new martial arts space, but I am happy to say that they have been so welcoming and take all of their students seriously.I’ve gained confidence and it is a respite from my daily stresses. Run don’t walk!
charles Douglas: Great
David W: Great place to learn at
Kenny central Indiana: A great place. The people are nice and the kids love it.
Heather Stultz: LTMA has been a wonderful place for my daughter to grow in confidence and Martial arts ability. The staff and all the instructors are fabulous and it’s truly a family friendly environment. Associate Master Tucher is a fantastic teacher. He makes Martial Arts come alive and his passion makes everyone want to be a better student. He makes the class enjoyable for all ages, mixing fun activities in with the required curriculum. Roughly a year ago I decided to take a leap of faith and join my daughter on the mat. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Not only is it a good bonding experience for us but going to class has made me a stronger person. I know there are many other schools out there but hands down LTMA is the best choice!
Mary Ruiz: The Staff working there are very nice and they treat students with respect. Our son has been doing so well when he started here. My son has enjoyed all the activities that the place provides and he learn how to protect him self from other people who try to hurt him. I would give 10 stars if i could.
Amanda Turner: The staff and everyone involved are excellent! There are other schools that we looked into and by far made THE BEST DECISION to come to Level 10. AM Tucher has made a great impact on my son who struggles with self confidence, I can not thank him enough. His twin brother has recently enrolled as well and we are starting to see a difference with his attention and focus. I could write a thousand paragraphs but we'll leave it at that!
Eric Cherry: Great school and instructors!
Sarah Cherry: Best decision made for our children! Not only teaches Martial Arts, but also teaches Discipline, Respect, and Self Control!
Ashley Dunn: Has done amazing things for my son with ADHD. I cannot say enough about this place. The staff is incredible and the kids always have fun and learn!
stevet5808: Great family atmosphere. They not only teach the martial arts but also safety and manners.
Elizabeth P.: Not only do they learn self control self defense but also helped my daughter learn confidence and self pride. Also helps in more ways than I can list! A deff must!
Shannon C: My son has been a student at Level 10 for several months and we love it. After a bad experience with a previous school we were a little hesitant, but Master Tucher and the other instructors are great with the kids! My son loves it and we look forward to each class. As a parent I love the skills he’s learning.
Aleksandar Benic: We have seen improvement with our son even at home after only 3 sessions. We will continue coming here. These guys teach not only Martial Arts, but most importantly respect, discipline and self discipline.
J Turner: LTMA is amazing! We signed our son Jaylen up on their trial promotion and could not be more pleased. Everyone at LTMA make you feel welcome and like family as soon as you walk through their doors. The staff is helpful and full of knowledge and treat everyone with the utmost respect. The most impressive part is AM Toucher knows every students name and their families which makes it very personable. Thank you all at Level 10...it may be called level 10, but its level 100 and more with everything else you all do. Please come and join this awesome family.....you will love it too!
Kenneth Mitchell: This is a top notch facility, staff and Instructors are very friendly! My son has been attending for about 6 months now and always looks forward to class. Overall very pleased with Level 10 Martial Arts and highly recommend!
Samantha Bauerle: I found Level 10 by chance. My boys were signed up in a new student promotion and I was as nervous as they were to start this new journey. The staff and support staff have been there from day one encouraging, helping and guiding my children to grow physically and mentally. The atmosphere is positive and fun. My children have learned so much more than Martial arts. The guidance they receive on life lessons- respect, focus, discipline, humility, trust, honesty- is something that make this facility truly special. We love our Level 10 family!!
Dawn Webb: We absolutely love Level 10! The instructors are absolutely incredible and you couldn't ask for more. Their love for the kids and the entire family is evident in all that they do! They are knowledgeable and they take their job seriously. I wouldn't go anywhere else

Indianapolis Martial Arts Club: what do users think?
Irvin Cottone: I've been training at the indianapolis martial arts club for about a year now and I absolutely love it. The instructors are all incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and they really know how to push you to your limits. The classes are always challenging but fun, and I always leave feeling energized and accomplished. I've also noticed a huge difference in my fitness level since I started training here. I'm stronger, faster, and more confident than ever before. If you're looking for a great place to get in shape and learn how to kickbox, I highly recommend this place!
Romario Romain: Amazing coach! Great school! An environment built on learning and hard work !! Would definitely recommend
Connor Retz: I stumbled upon this place a little over three years ago. I was very out of shape and depressed, looking for a way out. I can honestly say that joining Indianapolis Martial Arts Club solved all my problems. Instructors Ray and James not only get students in the best shape of their life, but they also embed respect, discipline, and confidence in students. Students also meet so many different people with completely different backgrounds. I personally feel like Indianapolis Martial Arts Club has given me a family outside of my family, and for that, I am very thankful. What I was worried about most when I first started was that I would be thrown in with someone way more experienced than myself and I would end up hurt. This is not the case at all for any new student. Every new student starts in a beginner class. When Ray and James see that a student is ready to move on to the next class than they will make that arrangement. With Ray and James having over fifty years of experience under their belts, students feel safe and satisfied after every class. If you are ready to change your life for the better, go to their website or call them to schedule a free introduction.
David Goff: This is a place you have to come visit for yourself, don't let all the reviews confuse your decision making. I joined this club and I've enjoyed my experience so far. But you have to ask yourself : Do you really want to learn how to fight? Cause you gonna learn some stuff. Can you afford it and is it worth the investment? For me it was. Checked off a lot of boxes. I looked at a lot of schools across Indy. This one fit me best for my lifestyle and what I wanted to learn. To some it up come here check it out see if it's a good fit for you and if you are a good fit for them. You are getting your money's worth no matter what amount you pay, because these skills will last the rest of ur life.
Stephanie Elliott: I am so happy that after driving past this place a million times, I decided to call. Ray and James are so patient with me and helpful. I get a great workout that I wouldn't do otherwise. I was nervous that I would feel like the odd one out, but the other people in the class are really nice and you feel like you fit in quick. I love it. Worth every penny.
Michael Barron: Clean gym, great instructors, affordable pricing. 10 out of 10 experience these past 3 months!
Solomon Burks: Great place for people who are coming to learn and grow, not only in martial arts, but the discipline that comes with it that transfers into the real world.
Monica Dominguez: I have been attending IMAC for about 5 months now and my experience has been nothing short of amazing. What I appreciate the most is that they prioritize the safety of club members. High quality instruction from coaches that are invested in helping you improve. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
Elisa Garcia: I am not usually in the habit of posting reviews but when I believe in something, Ill talk about to everybody. And that's exactly what I feel like I need to do with this club. Ray and James honestly care about you as an individual and student and invest the time needed for a student as myself to grow.
Daniela Gonzalez: In case anyone wants a ballpark in pricingfor $150 you will get a lecture that has nothing to do with pricing just their morals and stuff from the head coach and a private lesson. A couple of your classes can get credited afterwards from that $150 if you commit to procede. On the average he says a student pays $30+ per class. However If you need to catch up with the rest of the class with Private Lessons it will range around $150. They will raise prices I don’t recall how often but I believe it varies due to inflation and other variable costs per student but in his words “my students that I’ve had for a couple years+, pay more now than they did when they began”. They want a minimum 2yr commitment to be coached otherwise its not worth their time and they could put their energy on another student. I didn’t and could not commit to that which is fine with me im not upset, so ultimately I accepted I’d fall in this school’s number of people who leave after the first day that he will mention multiple times on the first meeting. I will say though the private lesson was actually incredible, I learned a lot and felt it too. The head coach is referred to as “chief coach”. Not strange at all. I think he must like hearing himself talk because he WILL drag on and on his points with strange analogies, assumptions of yourself, and examples of other students. So know really, you’re just listening to him, all you ever do is just nod your head with an occasional “mhm” and feel like it will never end! The next moment he’s already up and walking away with a “alright, lets keep in touch if you’re serious”. Good Luck Interrupting him to ask a question! I will say this, I think this school should get a reality show because the way I see it, the “Chief” basically runs that place like the Abbey Lee Miller from Dance Moms. (Hey big money idea). All in all I’m being told generations have/are training here, pros, and apparently lots of champions are born here too (he will make sure you know that)
Animal Kyle: Most of these low reviews seem to be about the contract. Yes, the contract sucks. Like every contract. I was 18 and fresh out of high school when I signed mine. I had NO idea on what I was getting into with that, I'm still surprised that they didn't want one of my parents there with me like they did the other 18 year olds in the class. I signed up for the 3 year contract. I would try to make it every day for classes, if not every other day to make sure I was getting my full worth and train as much as possible. After a few months, I ran into hard financial problems and was not able to end my contract. I couldn't really talk to Ray about any of this without getting the normal response of "Well, you're an adult. A contract is a contract." ordeal. However, James brought me into his office, sat me down and we hashed everything out. I didn't cancel my contract, but he helped me figure out what my next step was for financial thinking. That's what a good instructor does, a good teacher. I continued to train with them and loved every minute of it until my contract was up. I never really talked to Ray (I mainly thought he was conceited with some of his stories he would talk about but hey, personal opinion) since James was always helping me, training me, and teaching me. If you are looking into enrolling into IMAC, I would suggest doing a pay in full option if the contract seems to be upsetting you. I would 10/10 recommend anyone train under James and Ray. I learned values, defense and offense, and really good life lessons from them. I hope to join again one day.
Meester: If you cancel your membership, make sure they actually cancel it and don't charge you past your membership date. Had to jump through hoops and do certified mail to get my charges back because they didn't cancel it as they said they had done.Your own equipment is not allowed sans hand wraps and a jump rope. They make you buy from them when signing your contract and is ungodly overpriced. Pads do not cost $275+ even if they're "the best shipped from Thailand". They weren't. Only figured that out after the fact when I joined another gym. They giggled at my naivety lol. That's on me. I got some cool muay thai shorts out of it though I think?
Jessica Mann: I started about 5 months ago, and I absolutely love it. Not only do you learn self defense, you also get an amazing workout. I have never left the gym feeling anything but sore and proud. Once you get into the routine of going, you'll start wishing you could go everyday. When I first started, I made every excuse in the book as to why I couldn't go, because I knew I would be worked and dripping sweat within the first 10 minutes of the class. I would absolutely give it a try:)
Fernando Sosa: One day I made the decision to stop by this place to ask about the classes.and from there I made the decision to give myself the opportunity to learn something newI was already bored with the daily routine and never doing anything for myself and I liked it I recommend this place on 💯
Michaela Tucker: I’ve been attending classes for a few months now and it has been a really great experience. I would highly recommend this place to everyone
Cooper Dykes: I've been attending classes here for over a year now and I can say that it's been worth every second. I'll start with talking about the instructors, Ray and James are both really great teachers with how they'll get out there, work with people individually, and make sure they get it right before moving on while at the same time maintaining a no nonsense attitude. Then there's the other students and in all my time enrolled I haven't had an issue with anyone, partly due to the fact that Ray and James don't allow cocky or hotheaded people into the class, henceforth everyone is very respectful and you can tell they're there for the same reason you are to grow and develop for the better. This place is a true life changer and I couldn't recommend a better place for someone looking to get into martial arts.
Kywane Crowder: Sarkine Martial Art Club Is Amazing. You Want To Learn Self Defense Come Here
Jaredy Hernandez: These guys really help get you out of your comfort zone and help you stay in shape not just physically but also mentally; it’s a great place to be i’ve enjoyed going ever since i’ve signed up.
Ana Silva: This makes exercising so much fun and helps relieve any negative emotions. I’ve been doing this for 1+ year and this has impacted me greatly. This is something I always look forward to during my week. I highly recommend it!
Javier Gonzalez: From the time I've been here it's been amazing I've never had so much fun working with my friends. If you have free time all the time I would greatly recommend this place it will change the way you view life.
Michelle Lamar: Before I get started, this is an alias name that I am using because Sarkine’s had me sign a contract stating I would not post a bad review online. So James and Ray, don’t reply with “this is a troll”. I was a customer of yours. Before you sign anything, READ EVERYTHING. I had something come up and could no longer attend the classes. It was to no fault of my own and completely unforeseeable. I essentially was told through snail mail that I had to keep making the payments. Long story short, Sarkine’s only cares about the money. They don’t care about the students as people.

House of Martial Arts: what do users think?
James Miles: Great culture. More interested in education than competition and winning. Love bringing my boys to beginners ninja and enjoy going to the adult class myself.
Jack Murak: Truly a gem of a place for anyone who wants to learn martial arts or self defense. Detailed and comprehensive instruction. The new facility has a ton of style, a great layout and always clean.Truly a family atmosphere and supportive culture for athletes at any skill level. I've made incredible friends and life changing experiences here.Give it a try, you won't ve disappointed.
George Nae: Knowledgeable staff, friendly environment, awesome techniques from Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing. Great for kids and adults.
Kurtis Sluss: Starting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was something I did on a whim to help stay fit and boost my confidence. Sensei George and the HMA team made quick work of that and gave me so much more than I hoped for. Fun, safe, challenging, and fulfilling are all words I'd use to describe the program. What more could you ask for?
Jason Kaufman: I’ve trained at HMA for a few years and have really enjoyed my experience with sensei George and sensei Jonathan. I would and do recommend HMA if you are looking for a great place to train.
Gabriel Gonzalez: I love it I have been going thair for 5 years
Jillian Lennon: When I started up at HMA, Sensei George worked one on one with me and my goals. Weeks had passed and my ability to do push ups and crunches increased. Things I never thought I was able to do became possible. The staff here always made sure to keep a comfortable environment with encouraging people. I've made some amazing friends in my classes and I have become proud of what I am able to do because of HMA. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities presented at HMA that have challenged my mind, body, and spirit. HMA is the only place I would want to go for my martial art or fitness needs.
Sally Kennedy: I walked in off the street one day to talk to Sensei George and have been coming back for the last several months. Sensei George listened to my goals and we talked through how to achieve them with HMA’s programs. I absolutely love the fitness kickboxing class and the instructor and group environment has been the extra support I needed. Because I am just starting at 46 years old and I had specific goals, I have worked 1:1 with Sensei George through individual classes. I’m excited to start group beginner courses soon as well. I love seeing how martial arts can have such a positive impact on our children’s lives and HMA is dedicated to developing character, integrity and confidence in our youth. That said, you are never too old to start and for me, it’s been life changing. My suggestion for anyone considering martial arts for their child or themselves is to go and meet with the staff and owner. Talk to them about what your goals are, feel the space you’ll be training in, and decide if it’s right for you. I’ve only written a few reviews in my life, but it’s important to me to share this because HMA has had such a great impact on my life.
Brian Shotton: Great instruction. Family atmosphere. This is my home away from home. Multiple black belt instructors. Impressive lineages in Hawaiian Kenpo and BJJ. And the best fitness kickboxing in the area.
Todd Polizotto: All of my kids enjoy classes here. Educational and fun
CVLATINA LLC: Muy bueno
Mr WizrdX: Positive:Value
Erica Johnson: Fun, patient teachers and helpful staff! This was our fourth visit, and our Little One has shown remarkable progress in focus, strength, and confidence. We enjoy HMA.
Breann McNeil: Our son has really enjoyed his experience here. Great lesson sessions for kids.
Lindi Prevost: I've gone here for a few weeks now, and I still love being there every time. I've done the fitness kickboxing classes and tried out the combat kickboxing and bjj classes as well. As other reviews mention, it is an incredibly supportive and non-judgmental environment. I always feel welcome walking in, more so than any other gym setting I've ever been in. Prices are reasonable and the people are awesome!
Amber Home Grown: My kids loved the free intro classes. They were very nice and fun. Just can't afford it or we would definitely be back! Keep up the good work!
Kyle Jenkins: My wife and I went to the House of Martial Arts based on a promotional offer they had around St. Patricks Day (wonderful deal, btw) and before the first class was over we felt that this was a place that we could see ourselves wanting to come to. The facility is super clean (they take pride in how much they do to keep it sanitary), the staff and instructors are extremely amicable and encouraging while giving you lots of one on one attention, which is great as a beginner! They offer a variety of classes including: Fitness kickboxing, Hawaiian Kenpo/Jiu-Jitsu, and MMA training classes. Each of these has different areas and techniques that are the focused on depending which day of the week it is. For example, for Kenpo, Mondays are stand-up fighting/combat kickboxing, Wednesdays and Saturdays are Jiu-Jitsu grappling (ground fighting) days, and Fridays are stand-up fighting with an emphasis on self-defense.Soon after the trial, my wife and I decided to train full time in Hawaiian Kenpo which is the schools specialty and its secondary specialty jiu-jitsu. It has been one of the best things we have done for ourselves physically and mentally as the art and instructors help build you up beyond what we thought we were capable of. My somewhat timid wife who never had any fighting experience in real life or training is now confident enough in herself and her skills learned here that she is considering competing in jiu-jitsu competitions in the future!I can't recommend Sensei/Owner George Nae and his staff enough for anyone that is interested in improving upon themselves!
marat bleykhman: My son is going there since he was 6 and now he is 11. Excellent instructors and jids really learn technic and form. Also grappling classes are very good!!!
Ashley Willis: An intense workout in a supportive environment.
Waqas Ghumman: I am not really the gym type but this really turned my life for the better. Markedly improved my weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and other health markers. My doctor was IMPRESSED!!! Also made great work out friends and love the staff.
Michael Stanfield: I joined HMA back in December 2014 initially only for the MMA classes. Having enjoyed the MMA classes so much, I decided to start the Cardio Kickboxing also. I am still absolutely hooked to both. The two classes are completely different - Cardio kickboxing makes me work far harder than I ever did in the gym whereas MMA is all about learning the different techniques.Sensei George and his team are excellent trainers and have created a really fun environment in which to learn martial arts.I was at first worried that there would be people there just trying to prove they are the best however that isn't anywhere near the truth. No-one there is out to hurt anyone or prove anything, I can honestly say the whole group are there for their own self-development in martial arts.HMA caters to all ages - we have people aging from 20 (and younger) thru to mid 60s.To anyone who is thinking about trying HMA out - give it a go! I highly suspect that, like me, you will love it.

Impact Martial Arts: what do users think?
Nora Harris: My son went to 2 classes. During this time nothing was explained to him just threw him into exercising with no stretching. Kids taught the first class. I witnessed a grown instructor throw a temper tantrum, telling his students how he didn’t have to be there ending his class early. It’s a shame because my son liked the other students but now goes to a different karate school that he enjoys much more and way more affordable. I highly recommend IRise Martial Arts inside the Get Fit Athletic Club on E Washington & Shortridge. We’ve been extremely satisfied with Grand Master Ingram’s school.
Ruben: Great Little Place to teach kids self-discipline, self-respect, and etc.
corey Mitchell: The instructors are great and friendly would highly recommend and if you are a spectator be prepared to get roped in by the instructors
Crystal Sower: I have not fully immersed myself in to this place yet but so far they seem really good,I just signed up my little one and I really like how they work with the kids! They Played Me-Edit review- my little one went there and it is not as advertised. He did not get his karate Gi, if that is how you say it and the man told me that to join I would have to pay 100$ sign up and 299$ fist month all due at one time and the 299$ would be per month. I think the prices should be laid out before you hand over the initial 50$ because if I had known it would be so much I would have never paid 50$ for a month of classes and then turn around and pay 300$ a month for the same classes that price jump makes no sense and is seems as though that is standard practice get you in the door then tell you they want an arm and leg for the classes that'sjust wrong to me. Go at your own risk. It is a nice studio and teachers but no no no to those prices🤨
Tim Barnett: Positive:Quality,ValueMaster Northup, is very knowledgeable and caring about his students. You couldn't ask for a better instructor.
Jennifer Baron: My son loves it. Awesome instructors
Christina Turner: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueImpact Martial Arts is a great place to take your child. My son is 7 and he absolutely loves it and it gives him a chance to be apart of something special. The owner and the instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly! Would 10/10 recommend!
Jared Huckstep: My son takes lessons here and he absolutely loves it. The instructors are very attentive
Annie bishop: Positive:Quality,ValueThis has been a great lace for my 5 year old. He absolutely loves going. It’s a great energy burner and the martial arts philosophy instills great lessons for young children. We have seen an improvement in his ability to listen and follow instructions. He is so motivated to get his black stripe!!!
Joseph “Joe” Divish: I've been a student at this location since April of 2019. The prices are fair and he even gives a discount if you pay in full for 6 months at a time (The best deal). Being in the military as well, Master Northup will even add time to your 6 months if you have scheduling conflicts related to military service. They have intense belt camps that allow students to gain knowledge and physical fitness in a short amount of time, which allows them to rank up in belts faster. If you just go to the website and fill out a form you will not have any question over looked. The free 2 weeks of classes to see if it's for you is also nice!
Chip Dean: Extremely professional a quality place to train
leonard duke: My son goes here it is an awesome learning experience if your kid likes boxing they would love this.
Angela Shamblin: Great place
Rafael H.: I initially signed up my my son and he loved it. He was having so much fun I decided to join as well. The instructors are very knowledgeable, and they're great with the children. I definitely encourage anyone who's looking to learn a lot and meet great people to sign up.
Antonio Key: The best Martial arts school that I have ever seen.
Maria Cooper: Awesome school and instructors! Lead instructor is an 8th degree black belt and actually studied under the founders of taekwondo! He is amazing with kids as are all the instructors. It has helped my son who has problems with ADHD and focusing. He has learned discipline and focus and is now on his way to black belt! They also learn other martial arts as well. I have never had a problem with uniforms. In fact, I don't care if my son was doing martial arts in his pajamas there as he has learned and improved so much! Highly recommend to anyone!
Matt Spears: The experience is great. The classes are fun and challenging.
Laura Beckley: I did not have provlem with uniform. Instructors are great with kids. Teaching respect and discipline. My grandson loves it!
julie stiers: Instructors are great at their job!
Missy Petty: The special that is offered for $69.00 is false advertisement. You do not receive a uniform. Unfortunately my 7 yr old grandson went through 5 1/2 of his 6 week class without a uniform. Beware..
Nathanael Ginn: Impact Martial Arts is a great place to learn self defense and get some exercise. It is a safe, fun environment for kids and adults to learn martial arts.

Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy: what do users think?
Pat O'Donnell: I have been attending Indianapolis BJJ for about 14 months now, and it has been an amazing experience so far. Started when I was 56 years old.Professor Eldred and his staff are excellent instructors of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It is a completely safe and supportive atmosphere at the academy in which all students respect each other, and work to be great training partners. Like any decision you make in life, you get out of it what you put into it. If you come to class check your ego at the door, willing to learn, and listen/respect your instructors and fellow students, I guarantee you that Professor Eldred and his instructors will make sure you get the training and education you need to build self-confidence and real life skills. Indianapolis BJJ is a great community in which I have gotten to know a number of great people and make real connections. I remember my first class, and make sure I greet any new student I see in class so that they feel welcome and supported. Why...because that was my first experience at Indianapolis BJJ. Our advanced belts are also wonderful people who will share their knowledge and experience with you while on the mat. One word of advice...BJJ is a journey! As a white belt you may not feel like you are making progress, but I guarantee you are. The key is to keep coming back. At Indianapolis BJJ, I guarantee you will be hooked after your first class.
Dierdra Roller: Professor Eldred has established a professional space where safety and self-defense is the upmost importance. Coming from an all female gym where space was imperative, I was hesitant about being in direct contact as well as compromising positions in a male dominated sport/space. By my third class, I had worked through my own fears about this. My only regret is not joining sooner!I have had the opportunity to work with the majority of instructors at Indy BJJ, and have learned something new from each one of them. I look forward to when my sons can also learn from the best!
Tran Nguyen: It's been great being a part of the Indy BJJ community. Professor Eldred and his team of instructors are so awesome. Not only are they top-notch at teaching, they always make students feel very welcoming and motivated. As a few female students in the program, I have been able to learn great life skills and make great friends at the academy.
Dr. Brian Watters: Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great facility, clean, inviting, and a friendly environment that encourages personal growth in self-defense. All the instructors are there to help you learn and make sure you understand the material. Prof. Eldred is a great teacher and has set up a good course system. Highly recommend.
Brian Bigelow: Great program with friendly people
John Pearson: I started jiu jitsu 7 months ago and definitely picked the right place to learn! All the instructors are very good and hands on. Onwer/Professor Greg is a 4th degree black belt with 30 plus years of knowledge in sport and self defense jiu jitsu. Great place to train! Come try it out....it may just change your life!!
Exitmat: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy wife and I attend, and we love it. All the instructors are knowledgeable and enjoyable to learn from, and the the classes are well-organized with a purposeful curriculum. Great place to learn Jiu-Jitsu for anyone!
Jay Tuttle: I felt very fortunate to have found Professor Greg Eldred and the Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy very early in my search for a place to train in BJJ., Several years later I still feel the same way. The instructors are very professional and deeply committed to bringing out the best their students. The curriculum is very well organized, and new students can start at any point in the Basic program and not feel lost or having to worry about becoming a grappling dummy for the more senior students. Thanks professor.
Jess Brito: I am responding to reviewer End Game's negative comment. His recollection of his visit is a little distorted. I know because I was there. I was participating in the Saturday morning basics class at the academy when End Game barged in and disrupted class without a scheduled appointment. The school's website explicitly says to please make an appointment if you are a non-student and want to check the academy out. The school does not have a "Walk-ins Welcome" policy. Consultations are by appointment only to ensure Professor Eldred can walk you through how the academy works and answer all questions from prospective students.Anyways, back to the Saturday morning class in question. Professor Eldred was in the middle of demonstrating a move in class when End Game bolted in and disrupted class. After Professor Eldred finished instructing us on the technique he approached End Game to get more information since he knew nothing about him. Turns out he expected to just show up and roll which was incredibly inconsiderate. It is also not the way the school works. There are designated class times and open mat times for STUDENTS. End Game is NOT a student. Professor has an allegiance to his students who are there to learn Bjj for self defense. Not to a stranger who thinks he can just show up whenever, light someone up on the mats and then go on their merry way. Professor Eldred is always going to protect his students and make sure they learn in a safe environment. So of course he asked him questions. This was a complete stranger who didn't have the common courtesy to reach out before showing up unannounced during class time.I also find it ridiculous End Game left a negative comment for this 1 experience when he was the one at fault. He is not a student therefore hasn't received any instruction therefore is not qualified to leave a critique on the service that the school provides. His ego was bruised and that is why he decided to leave a bad review. Plain and simple. I feel bad for the school he goes to. This is not good representation. Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy is a wonderful academy. I've been coming for almost 2 years now and I'm grateful for the constant support and encouragement I receive from Professor Eldred and his staff on top of the high caliber instruction. It is a welcoming environment all around and that begins with Professor Eldred. I couldn't recommend this academy enough. Come check it out if you are interested in being equipped to defend yourself in a real life altercation. It will change your life.
Pete Guillot: If you are thinking about adding Jiu-Jitsu to your life for one of many reasons - family safety, get in shape, gain confidence in tough situations, make friends, have fun - I strongly encourage you to stop in and check out the Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. I am sure you will find exactly what you are looking for. I am 54 and started practicing about 15 months ago. I had zero fight or self defense training when I walked in the door. From the moment I stepped in, I felt welcome by Professor Greg and the entire instruction staff. Prof Greg and his staff of accomplished Jiu-Jitsu instructors work extra hard to meet you at your capability level in order to help you advance and meet your own goals. It can be a little intimidating to walk into the Academy for the first time, but I strongly encourage you to do so. It was one of the best decisions I have made in a long time, and I guarantee you too will have a terrific experience.
Brandon Barksdale: As a seasonal blue belt, I had the same experience as some other had commented. I walked in, with the attitude to share my jiu jitsu experience and check out the school on a Saturday . But was met by Greg with a defensive posture of me just showing up. I have never felt so unwelcome in a jiu jitsu gym. I was asked multiple question, are you visiting? Looking for just a workout? Do you live here? Typically salesman approach. I was turned away..... I’m from a more welcome jiu jitsu community that always welcomes anyone who wants to share or learn more about jiu jitsu. Please use my comment constructively, I hope things get better for this gym. Greg bio is amazing and I wish our face to face was more rememorable is a positive sense.
Victor Wieczorek: Professor Greg Eldred is incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to his students. The classes are challenging, the students are encouraging, and the school is always spotless. I'm looking forward to a long career at Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!
dwayne oconnor: Great academy. Instructors are fantastic and show a strong interest in you learning proper technique for self-defense. School is well run with safety for all participants in mind no matter what your experience level. Great place to train and you'll even make new friends. Give it a try, it will change your life!
Greg Magnusson: I've been training at Indy BJJ for three years so far. I'm a middle aged guy, not much of a competitor, just training so I can keep my family safe. In the process, I've made a ton of friends here, have maintained a 25lb weight loss, have zero injuries, and have gained the strength and confidence that I failed to achieve with cardio or weights. You really owe it to yourself to learn the world's most effective martial art, and Professor Greg Eldred is the most respected, highest ranked Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teacher in the state, so you should do it here. It's a small but busy facility during training hours, so best to make an appointment to talk with Professor Eldred before you arrive!
Annie Scott: My 10 year old daughter has been taking classes. It’s a skill set that she will take with her until she’s an adult. We hope she takes classes until she’s an adult. Everyone is great they are very encouraging and patient with the kiddos.
Alexander Ostrovsky: Excellent instruction and environment. I highly recommend for anyone that wants to take a serious and realistic approach to self-defense and martial arts. Learn BJJ in its purest form - as it was designed by the founders.
Andrew Ridner: As a purple belt competitor and someone who trained all around the country i really enjoy visiting new gyms, this gym however stands out negatively.I walked in with a smile on my face and a polite and respectful entrence. I was just standing there until the teacher (greg) acknowledged me by simply waving me away and saying if you want to try our gym make an appointment on line and i will call you. I couldn't believe how rude and careless the teacher was twords me. I strongly do not recommend this gym for anyone.
Kyle Maguiness: Very knowledgeable instructors.
R.J. F.: I trained at Indy BJJ for several years, before moving, and I truly believe it is the best academy in Indianapolis to learn real Jiu Jitsu from a legitimate black belt. The academy is very clean and has a great culture and learning environment. The instruction is very detailed-oriented and you will learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the right way. If you're in the area, go check it out!
Jake Edwards: Great atmosphere. Pure Brazilian Jui-Jitsu. BJJ is the most valuable martial art to train for kids and adults.
Jayson Watt: Indy BJJ is a great academy! Professor Greg Eldred is very knowledgeable and is meticulous in his instruction. If you are looking to do sport or combat jiu jitsu, Indy BJJ is the place to start your journey. I have been training here for around 16 months. The facility is professionally ran, impeccably clean and welcoming to all. If you are dealing with issues such as self confidence, social anxiety, weight issues, abuse or depression, Brazilian jiu jitsu is the sport for you. It can change your life!

Choi Martial Arts Academy LLC: what do users think?
Stacy B: We have been taking our kids here for 2 years. Choi Martial Arts is a fantastic place to take your kids to learn Tae Kwon Do. The program helps kids build confidence and see how hard work pays off. The instructors are professional, friendly, and so patient with the kids. They work hard to help the kids grow and improve their skills.. This program is absolutely the best you will find around Indianapolis!
Mary Jane Gordon: Very knowledgeable teacher from Korea. Our son learned a lot of good techniques on how to kick . 40mins drive to studio from where we live but it’s worth. Highly recommended.
Autumn King: Instructors are amazing and so patient. My 7 year old LOVES this place. It’s a family owned company so who you start with with be the same people your child will continue to learn with. I will be starting my youngest son as soon as he turns 4. I highly recommend 100/10
Kellie Rae: My family and I love Choi martial arts academy. They really care about the kids and take the time to teach them. My kids are always excited to go . I also love how they have really boosted my daughters confidence.
Prateek Sharma: I cannot say enough great things about Choi Master Arts Academy. My daughter and her friends have been practicing taekwondo here for several months now, and the experience has been truly amazing. The instructors go above and beyond to make sure that each student receives personalized attention and guidance. The facility itself is top-notch, with state-of-the-art equipment and plenty of space for students to practice and learn. And the atmosphere is always positive and welcoming, with a strong sense of community and camaraderie among all the students and staff.I highly recommend this martial arts academy to anyone looking for a top-notch training experience. Five stars!
Bill Amber: My son goes here and absolutely loves it. The nasters are amazing and really care about the students.
chris privett: Wonderful program, wonderful instructors ,
Scarlett Jones: Excellent people and teachers. Comfortable environment and a lot to learn!!
Kate Denesuk: I cannot say enough great things about Choi Martial Arts! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Master Choi, Master An, and Mister Choi (the instructors) are knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated to helping each student (whether child, teen, or adult) reach their full potential. They have a great balance of challenging everybody to improve while also ensuring fun and enjoyment. The facilities are clean and well-maintained with plenty of space to train. My child (now 6) started when he was 5, and I've seen so much growth and improvement in him (and he's quite timid and shy, so this was pretty amazing). They also have after school care and school break programs; my son attended the spring camp and will return for the summer camp because he had such a great time.I would highly recommend Choi Martial Arts for anyone looking to start their martial arts journey, for anyone looking to continue their martial arts journey, or for anyone who just wants to enjoy the art of tae kwon do.
Dianna Woodling: Amazing program! My son has gained so much confidence and is thrilled to come to class.
Lucia Hernandez: en esta academia mi ija a aprendido mucho y los maestros son muy buenosmaes le doy las grasias sellos mi ija se sabe defender👍👍👍
Sailor Traub: Our family loves this place. They run their business very efficiently and are great with all ages.We have a four year old who has really done well and a seven year old who really enjoys improving his skills. Master David is very kind and patient and is full of positivity that he spreads to the kids every chance he can. Master An is an amazing teacher and does great with our four year old. It’s been a great experience and we will keep coming back.Thank you!
Destiny's Symphony: My daughter has loved attending Choi martial arts. They are professional, caring and compassionate about what they teach here. And all the kids seem to have a great time learning martial arts. 100% recommend.
Brad Combs: This review and the ones before it tell the story. The Choi family are very special and our kids love them dearly. As so many others have mentioned, it is a family affair and they spend a great deal of effort to help develop the kid as well as the student.Safety is preached throughout and especially with sparring. Frankly, this is incredibly reassuring to some of the more timid kids like our daughter who needed the constant reassurance to break out of her shell. Everything is done with positive reinforcement and acknowledgement for efforts and accomplishments.Everything they do during training has an element of fun with opportunities for recognition of efforts and accomplishments for each kid. Your kid WILL get noticed and publicly complimented. By the end of training, you will swear each kid has grown an inch or two.We simply could not imagine a better place, environment or teachers for our kids to learn from.
Mickey Harden: Great school with attentive and knowledgeable instructors. My boys have more confidence and are excelling on and off the mat. 🥋
Sung Ku Sung: Positive:Professionalism,Value
John: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityGreat place for children to learn responsibility and discipline in a fun and safe environment. Staff is involved in all aspects of the teaching and training of each student. Would highly recommend.
Tabitha Garthwaite: Such a beautiful family owned business. They're both athletically professional and incredibly heartfelt and sincere. My kids love Choi and solook forward to going to class.
Idamarie Collazo: Since May 2021, we've been working hard building up our technique and strengthening our mindset, all thanks to this family centered dojo and attentive masters. My daughter's self-esteem has grown in a positive direction and we've made friends along the way. This has been a great adventure for our family and we are looking forward to how our journey plays out as a student with Choi Martial Arts Academy. You can guarantee the master's are attentive to their students and share a deep respect for the art. You will learn. You will work hard. You will fall but they will be there to lend a hand every step of the way.
eduardo Pineda: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueWe are very pleased with the instructors and the academy , my daughter's love to train there, the academy have an awesome after school program also !
Jossiettia Thomas: My grandson is a student there and has been there for four years. He is doing well and has learned a lot. This is a great program. He has also benefitted from the afterschool program and with the discipline, love and skills learned, he is a red striped belt, a straight A student in the seventh grade, and a well mannered young man.
