Sly Cotto: First time here and I got a medium crab boil, and a seafood-loaded potato for my wife (to go)...She loved it... but she couldn't eat the whole thing because there was so much! And the crab boil was delicious and was nice portions... but it's always so much WORK to get to the good stuff! lolIf you like seafood, and supporting local, small businesses...give this place a try!

H.W. Logic: I'd like to provide a review but this place is never open. I've called a few times and got met with serious attitude by the proprietor. Just the tone she took with me when I was trying to figure out how to spend money with her is enough for me to say nope. That's not customer service....if you run a restaurant, run a restaurant..if you have a hobby, have a hobby...but don't pretend your hobby is a real and legitimate business.
Ashley Rodriguez: So I wasn’t able to get a picture in before we devoured our food but this food was absolutely amazing! The woman was so pleasant and her care and concern was making sure I was happy with my order. My husband and I ordered the XL with 4 clusters! The sauce was phenomenal and the portion was great. This is my new go to spot for seafood and hands down was worth my drive from Elkhart !
Latoyia Burton: Food was delicious, I literally drove an hour and a half just to try this place, I ordered a medium seafood boil and everything was perfect especially the sauce. The gag is I didn’t even check to see if they were open by calling first I just drove there, and she was actually closed and having a private party when I showed up, but I told her my lil story and she still made sure this customer left with food and very happy, even though she was already preoccupied she still had excellent customer service and also her guest attending the party all made sure I felt comfortable and was happy, I’m definitely making another trip soon. Yoooo we sat for way too long and waited on our meals only to hear the DING of a microwave and our Styrofoam plates and plastic forks appeared before our eyes with something that looked inedible placed upon it! Check it..I ordered, well we both ordered the Salmon Alfredo $20 but they informed us that there was only one piece of salmon left. My pal opted to have the shrimp cause I was not interested in that at all!. I thought surely when I saw that there was bacon on these entries, it was going to be some beautifully smoked Applewood upon my salmon NAAAHHH! BACON BITS! My friend and I have dined at some fine establishments stateside and overseas, this salty, three to four frozen broccoli, box pasta dish was not what we expected! I am a firm believer in second chances. I am going to have to decline if I am offended a meal here! You go for yourself but don't say I didn't warn you! Me...I am a FOODIE if it was good I would tell you if its bad I will tell you in the hopes that they will get better! Carry On. Peep the pics below. Kathleen O'Brien: I tried this place out for the first time, and it was amazing!! I needed a good crab-fix in South Bend and Red Lobster just wasn’t cutting it. Customer service is great, Tera is a bubbly and wonderful person! The food was also everything I hoped for and more! The sauce is something incredible and is much better than just the classic melted butter. I got the crab boil and I added some shrimp (balling out for graduation celebration dinner) and let me tell you it was the right decision!! Highly recommend - two thumbs up!

I also got a Small boil w. a extra corn but the corn was really hard and dried out. Shrimp was salty egg was still in a shell! And I’m also not a fan of the sauce they have its more of a mayo based sauce! Sausage was salty as well.
Anesha Williams: Every time I go down town during "business hours " they are closed and sign clearly says open with hours posted. Tried to call before attempting to take the drive again and no answer but website states the establishment is open until 9 smh . One person from church who caught it open said the portions are very small

Patrick Ndombi: From the very beginning working with Jasmine who is the Director of Events was a delight. She clearly knows her stuff! She professionally guided me in the planning and food selection. Misty Cruz: I would call this place a beautiful disaster. Beautiful because of the atmosphere and our lovely waitress Patricia. Disaster for pretty much the rest of it. Starting with our reserved table not being open and them having to find us something else after climbing the stairs just to go back down. Our waitress was amazing and attentive from the start. My husbands drink came but mine was delayed for quite some time because the martini glasses were dirty. We ordered the crab cakes and I swear they looked more like sausage. They were overly salty and looked like frozen sadness. Our Caesar salad and bread was the highlight of our meal. We waited for two hours before our food came. Our waitress was so sweet kept checking on us and apologizing even though it wasn't her fault. She explained there were so many events the kitchen couldn't keep up. After 2 hours the food was cold and hardly any flavor. So very disappointing. No one seemed to know which way to go just seemed very unorganized for such an esteemed venue. We stayed mainly so our waitress would receive her tip for working so hard for us. She was a true gem!

Deana Sutherland: We went because it was restaurant week. The food was OK but our server was awesome. Charity has an awesome personality and was the highlight of our visit. My husband likes to tease the servers and she gave it right back to him. She kept our table laughing. We wish she served at places we frequent more often.
Tricia Aerial Tran: Spinach and artichoke dip was lukewarm. Had good flavor though, and loved how chunky it was! French onion soup tasted like it was beef bouillon with water added. Not much flavor, but it wanted to be there. Shrimp skewers were pretty good! Sauce was a hit. The crab cakes were decent, nothing to rave about. Got some rolls given to us because we have been waiting so long for our entrees. The butter could have used a little bit more salt but the rolls were soft and delicious! Finally got our dinner, 2 hours later. The rice…awful. Prime rib didn’t even taste like prime rib. Filet was burnt on the outside, raw on the inside, and wasn’t even close to cooked to temp. Mashed potatoes wee dry, and under mashed. The veggie sides were undeseasoned and seemed like they came out of a freezer bag. I personally had the scallops. They were dry, under seasoned, and I was just plain disappointed.
Wesley Hedden: The server was pleasant and the building is beautiful, but the food was decidedly not good. We ordered the house specialities (prime rib and local duck), and they were both very disappointing. Everything was served just a bit warmer than room temperature and had a distinct limpness to it. Even the chicken tenders and fries from kids menu were difficult to eat. The crab cakes, soup, and salad were a step above the mains but still just mediocre. The crème brûlée by contrast was pretty good. In terms of atmosphere, the restaurant could go with more even lighting (some tables are so dark it’s difficult to read the menu) and some kind of ambient background music (it was silent for the first hour we were here and we could hear everything happening in the restaurant). I genuinely wanted to like this place and am having a hard time squaring my experience with some of the earlier positive reviews on here. The sprawling building is really impressive, so if you do come be sure to wander around at some point.

Sonia Cruz: We were traveling and found tge restaurant on their website. Loved the pictures & decided to try it out. We had a great experience. It was busy when we got there, but waitress happily agreed to take our table even though she was quite busy. Service was pleasant, very attentive & gave great suggestions of foods to order. Our meals were cooked to order,and everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. We loved exploring the building & learning the history of the mansion. I highly recommend eating here.

marcia hauser: The waitress with the VERY messy hair, (absolutely unprofessional for this type of restaurant) said the duck would be crispy - it wasn't and it was so tough, I couldn't cut it with the knife provided. Ho Ping has much better duck. Also, the slimy squash was not edible...must have a new chef as this was not my previous experience.

Anna Weissman: Overall, lackluster. The grounds are beautiful but the service was really sub-par. It took about 20 minutes to get our first drink after we sat down, and likely only because I was eye ballin the server by that point. Our starter, the burrata beet salad was 90% beets, and our mains took another 40 minutes.. and they weren’t worth the wait. It wasn’t busy, and there appeared to be one server? It looked like the bartender left at one point. The mosquitos were voracious and it got super dark super quick, it was hard to see my dinner partner and entree. Overall, we were looking forward to the night but it was lackluster. By the end, we couldn’t wait to get the check. I think the spot has potential, but not as is.

Dave Miller: For fine dining in South Bend Carriage House cannot be topped. The food and service was outstanding. The menu changes regularly so every visit will be a new experience. There is outdoor seating available when the weather permits. Plenty of parking.
Marcie Soper: We wish we could rate this place higher! It is an iconic tradition, our family has attended many times in the past. However, we arrived at 6:50 for a 6:45 reservation and were greeted with hesitant faces. We sat and it took 25 minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted a drink. We were, served our first two courses in 3,5 hours, left at 10:145 pm, had not been served our main course yet, wish. We could say better because the food for first 2 cources tasted amazing!

Samantha Flesh: The ambiance and the servers were great. As a vegetarian there are very limited options. We spent a good deal of time fighting the bees flying around the patio. If you're a carnivore then definitely go for a burger, the 1851 was recommended by someone else in my party. However the pizzas and dessert are not worth the price. If I were to go back I would just go for drinks and appetizers.

Andrew Skipper: What a wonderful place! The atmosphere, the gardens, the food, drinks, and the live entertainment was all top notch. We had cocktails, appetizers, and pizzas made in the outdoor pizza oven, all while listening to live jazz music. Then took a relaxing stroll with a glass of rose wine through the garden. Staff was friendly and attentive. We’ll be back very soon!
Mymi Nguyen: Best thing about today's experience was our sweet server. This used to be a destination for dinning. We didn't have a great experience last time we were there a few years ago and when I saw they were opening back up I thought why not give it another shot. Reservation was 6:30pm for our anniversary. Only outside seating was open. We were there early so by the time 6:30 rolled around we already placed our orders. We said just to bring out out food as it comes, no worries. We sat there for an hour. By this time the table behind us was questioning where their did food was since they've been there for a long time. Our server came by and told us food was coming in a few minutes. 15 minutes later there was still no food. Not even a salad. When we told them we were leaving a guy behind the bar gave us attitude and told us it was their first day open and they were short staffed. That's understandable but he continued with a snappy comment of "its not fast food." We will NOT be coming back based on the attitude of the male server behind the bar. It was completely unnecessary and made an unpleasant experience into something much worse.

Cody Sanders: We had the drive up Friday fish fry. The Cod was deep fry with a light batter and the chunk of fish were thick and juicy. Cooked perfectly. Included was steak fries with a nice seasoning. The tarter sauce was homemade and tasty. The dessert was a s'mores brownie with a rich chocolate flavor.
Tabatha Goins: This place is absolutely gorgeous!! We were there close to sunset and was able to the enjoy the views in the day and at night with the lights that make the garden come alive for that fairytale feeling. The food is so phenomenal, the Chefs Special shrimp was the best I’ve ever had, I’ll probably crave it for ever! Everything was wonderful and we tried a lot! The drinks were also delicious, not over powering and had the perfect end of summer taste, I highly recommend this place and if you can go an hour before sunset, do it! The beauty from day to night is seriously a sight and a mood

For those that are not aware, Swai is a much cheaper Asian cousin of Catfish. It's ok, but when you say you're selling catfish... Sell catfish. Catfish eaters know the difference immediately and will pay for the real thing.

In addition they didn't even bother to clean ANY OF MY CHICKEN!! It was whole feathers on my wings, legs and thighs!! The fries were stale and the chicken made me sick. It tasted like it was fried in is grease. Nice people but that doesn't make up for poor products.

The fish were cut in the fish steak manner which made it nearly impossible to eat. Over 3/4 of the fish portion was completely inedible. For whatever reason, the fish was placed on top of a soggy piece of white bread. I am not even sure my cats will eat this. The potato salad was not good.The green beans and greens were too highly seasoned. The macaroni and cheese had very little taste. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. Truthfully I can not justify giving it even one star but it wouldn't let me post without clicking on at least one star.

The fish was cooked perfectly and the glaze, rice, and vegetables blended beautifully with it. My husband and daughter loved their Fried Chicken Dinner (big portions, he even took a leg home!) and Rieff sandwich. We also tried the Sticky Califlower and potato empanadas, which were great. Robert Conner: This place is amazing and I absolutely love each and every visit. Bantam thinks outside box, and has the best fried chicken which pairs exceptionally well with the crab hushuppies which covered in a lemon herb sauce. The staff here is amazing they help to accommodate a variety of dietary needs including gluten free. Servers are quite friendly even though overworked seem to go above and beyond make everything perfect. Drinks are well made and tasty especially for the price, tonight I had a peanut butter smores martini where the bartender actually came out and lit my marshmallows on fire, tasted just like I was sitting at a campfire which was perfect for after dinner desert. This place is a must visit, get out the norm and try something exquisite. I will definitely be returning again and again.

The food is absolutely incredible. The entrees are unique and change frequently. The cocktails are fantastic and are high quality. The mixology is very impressive and the liquors are good quality.I have seen some reviews that say they are “overpriced” or have “small portions”. Some people don’t understand there’s a price for quality. Everything is INCREDIBLY reasonable for what it is and if prices went up I would still be willing to eat here. For the quality, the prices are incredible. Those of you who think it is undersized or overpriced, I invite you to McDonalds for a couple Big Macs. Large portions and cheap prices, you’re welcome.

We ordered our drinks and viewed the menu where I noticed the "lobster roll". I ordered the lobster roll and I was really, really taken back by just how massive this order was.
