Gary Hall: On a Sunday morning my son and I were on the west side looking for a traditional chorizo and egg breakfast, and of course 'papas', and we came across "Chico's". It's a quaint little place operated by three, gracious and attentive staff.We were both surprised and pleased with their traditional fare...neither fancy or overseasoned, but the 'heat' was available. Please, don't go in expecting 'Tex-Mex", as this a home-cooking fare.Our plates arrived with scrambled eggs and chorizo, diced potatoes, beans, rice and three tortillas...all, for $10.50. While awaiting our food, we munched on the complimentary chips and salsa, and well brewed cups of coffee.They are open until mid-afternoon, so don't arrive later expecting dinner. For my son and I, we shall make the drive from Granger to the west side often. We recommend you try their hospitality.

Brantley Botham: Had a 7 o'clock reservation arrived at 7:04 got sat immediately wasn't very busy at all. Sat and sat for 20 minutes before being greeted. Ordered our food it came out great. Food was fantastic service was good after they forgot about us being there. Paella was awesome. And the potatoes were great.

Mommyof Sev7en: we went to a baby doctor appointment because i am exactly 6 months today and the doctor appointment wasn’t actually until 1:30 pm so We we’re looking for some spanish food and we came across Chicos. We looked at the menu to order, they have limited selection on menu, and they charge chips and salsa separately. you think if you’re paying 12 dollars for 3 tacos only you’d get chips and salsa. we will not be back, we have visited a lot of spanish places to eat and this one is the FIRST out of many that does not offer chips and salsa with the meals to purchase. Kinda disappointing. was looking forward to eating chips and salsa. Guess this place is scratched off the list of places to eat in south bend. Would not recommend due to pricing, location and no chips and salsa.

The pork meat has no flavor at all. The tamales are so dry & to much masa. The potato sticks was dry and seems like the were made a week ago. How do you mess up tacos? The only thing that was ok was the Mexican corn, & that's being generous. So disappointed.

Aaron Vardaman: I put 1 star only cuz when I've went there around 6 pm there is signs that say closed on the drive thru and I call and no answer. So either I have bad luck or those signs are always there and they are open.
Curves Galore: No! Not at all. Food was bland, steak felt over cooked and chewy/tough, the chicken was super bland like it was seasoned with just black pepper, onion and cilantro were cut into big weird chunks so was the “chicken square” pieces I had on my Taco, the nachos TERRIBLE, not enough cheese and the meat tasteless. Glad they are down on the end near mayflower rd cause the “BIG DOGS” are further down Western Ave, if you want real Mexican food go town the other end, the only good thing about the restaurant was the customer service, I give it to them they were friendly and very professional they get 10 for that, the food a 2.

The food was very good. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. My only complaint was another customer one seat over who was loud and obnoxious and swearing. I won't discredit the restaurant for that though. We will come back and try this place again.

We ordered a small one again, with mild sauce, and that’s exactly what we wanted. There was nothing to complain about but the man who served us offered not to charge us for the small Langostinos, which was def beyond our expectations! We really enjoyed the meal and will absolutely come back again! For anyone who loves spicy food I’d still recommend the spicy sauce!

Jonathan: I've only eaten here once, but that one time sold me. This place is the real deal. It's small, only 8 or 10 tables but it's a nice atmosphere. It's obvious that they focused on the taste. Ground beef and shrimp tacos were delicious. Everything was hot and cooked fresh in my to-go order. The only negative was the corn tortillas tasted like paper. Something wasn't right there, lol. You can't go wrong eating here.

Patrick Witherspoon: I am a disabled veteran 67 years-old. I went to this place to eat, the wait was long so I asked for help. The heavy set lady finally came & acted like she didn't want to help me; I let that go. I got my food; taco dinner; I was too hungry to complain. I ate what I could, left a tip, headed to the door like I was leaving, turned around and saw the waitresses talking about me. Poor service, being made fun of, & I believe I was overcharged. When the smaller lady saw me looking she told the other lady who hauled it aways from there. I'll probably not go there again. I'm sorry that happened to me; I love Mexican food. I'll find someplace else that will respect me. Take the money, tip, & talk about me afterwards....

Christina Manderfeld: Passing through on the way to Minnesota from Maryland- we were so hungry!! As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with smiles and sat at a large comfortable booth. Our waitress was kind and made sure we had everything we needed, down to the smallest detail. Our meals were not only delicious, but also made from the freshest ingredients. I had the spicy shrimp - which I highly recommend. The beef burritos that my husband ordered were perfect, my son's quesadilla was so gooey and cheesy - he was delighted. The meal was so well presented, my son decided to try rice and beans mixed together for the first time and he LOVED it. We were in a bit of a hurry as we travel with 4 dogs, so they made sure we had a delicious dinner in a timely manner. As we were leaving, the restaurant started to fill up more and every customer was treated like family. I overheard folks ask about how the owner was, which tells me that this place has repeat diners, always a great sign. Thank you for making our trip thru your town dee-licious.

The guacamole was over the top delicious and authentic. Very generous portions. Hap Burke: Average to low quality food, very poor atmosphere, and high prices make this restaurant a hard choice to justify. Admittedly, the location in the heart of downtown South Bend is great, but the food and ambiance does not merit the cost. South Bend, of course, has outstanding Mexican food, and for a more authentic — and much cheaper — experience, I'd recommend any place on Western Avenue.Parking: Free parking in a nearby garage. Street parking is often very limited.

Briana smith: Wanted to try Thai food for the first time after trying a co workers food. He told me about this spot so i called in a meal he told me about, once i got there i found out that i had ordered the wrong thing, the young lady at the front counter went to ask her manager what she should do since i had ordered the wrong meal and wanted to order something different. Well the young lady came back and said that her manager said that their policy is that if i order something i have to pay for it even if it’s the wrong thing. Well i walked out and went to the jerk chicken place around the corner for dinner and i will not be back here. Great job with loosing a potential customer and wasting a meal and receiving $0 for it. Ian Owen: I lived in South Bend for five years until recently, and I went to Cinco as much as I could. Never had a bad meal. The Thai food, the Mexican food, the margaritas are all delicious, and the service is typically excellent; I’m honored to say a few of them now feel like friends! Friends who bring me great Pad Thai! What more can you ask? You would have to be some kind of fool who tries to change their order super late and then leaves in a huff to not enjoy this place.

This place is definitely infested with cockroaches, which is disgusting. I’ve been reading the reviews and I see a few people have the same response. I reported this restaurant to the USDA Food and Safety Inspection Services. As well as the South Bend Health Department.
Sassy Green: If you like roaches! This is the best place for it. I seen a roach crawl across the floor. I got up to confirm that it was indeed a roach! It's hard to find a really good Mexican restaurant, and this place is definitely a diamond in the rough.
