Pinellia Vegan Asian Restaurant: what do users think?
Nicole Sorci: Delicious food. General Tso seitan and spinach dumplings are highly recommended. I dare non-vegan/vegetarian to try this restaurant and not like it!

Josef Kainrad: General tsao had too much sauce and was very very sweet. I enjoyed the dish but couldn’t finish it due to the sweetness. Great service.
Silly Wabbit: Fantastic, comprehensive menu with amazingly fresh ingredients and extremely tasty food.
CHARLES REED: If you love yourself...or even just like yourself just a tiny amount this a place to go!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Spring Rolls, General TSO's Soy Protein, Pad Thai, Yam & Taro Tempura, Miso Soup with Mushrooms Seaweed Tofu and Scallions …More
Em Horvath: Found this place searching for a lunch spot as we were stopping from out of town to see a show. My mom and I have been vegetarian for years, and we both loved being able to consider an entire menu rather than picking through for the stuff without meat (although it made it harder for us to choose!). An amazing assortment of meals with so many veggies and lots of non-meat protein. I got the sautéed tofu and veggies and loved it, huge portions and came out quick. A great little hole in the wall place. I feel like my food was a little on the unsalted side, and they only serve brown rice but those are the only things I would keep in mind about coming here, and are certainly not an issue. Definitely check this place if you are vegetarian/vegan, and try it even if you’re not!
Chloe Barker: so happy to have an all vegan restaurant in town! I would like to try more on the menu, there are so many options! The miso soup was not my fav, but the pumpkin soup and general tso’s were amazing!
Terence McKenna: Can't say enough.. if you are vegan or even if you are not, you will find this restaurant as a holy place.Dietary restrictions: Everything is vegan!
Les Dabney: Kimchi, vegetable moo shoo, mushroomsAbsolutely delicious.
Kayla Kranc: I never dined in before. suggestion, for noodles, please use containers with holes in them. when i received pad thai and japchae, they were all stuck together from heat. looks over cooked. korean food, bibimbop and japchae does not taste like korean food at all.
Paul Schermerhorn: Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Roger Lisenko II: We just had our first meal and it was excellent. The lady here is very friendly and the food comes out quick. The kimchi Udon was awesome. We would definitely come back. Great alternative to super fattening make you feel miserable traditional Chinese food.Recommended dishes Kimchi Udon Noodles …More
Lake Kubilius: Delicious vegan Asian food. A huge selection of options, featuring a large variety of realistic fake meat options. Well worth trying for anyone who likes vegan food!Vegetarian options: 100% vegan menuDietary restrictions: 100% vegan menu
Marcie Shields: One star is generous! I spent $48 on my first (and only!) take-out order from Pinellia and, after a few bites, ended up throwing everything--except for the spring rolls and vegetable dumplings--in the trash. Disgusting! The Moo Shu Vegetable was watery, soggy and filled with disintegrating, overcooked cabbage. The sesame noodles had no flavor. We tried adding soy sauce, sriracha, sesame oil, but nothing helped. While waiting for our order, I took a glance around. The place looked like a cyclone had hit it and it was not clean.
Amber Mustard: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Britney Slaven: AMAZING restaurant!! Food and service were fantastic! Definitely coming back if I’m ever around south bend again. The world needs more of places like this!!!
Caitlynb: This place is PHENOMENAL! The food is amazing, the service is wonderful, and they are willing to work around allergies as well. Walked in without much of an expectation and was completely blown away by how excellent everything was. Try this place! You won't be disappointed
Michael Babienco: Just finished a meal here. Phenomenal vegan food. The menu had many good looking suggestions. I had the veggies and soy protein in garlic sauce with miso soup on the side. Fantastic taste. Also wonderful service who was very kind to make sure my wife with allergies was taken care of. Thank you!!

Jenna Collins: My husband and I have been going here for the last 12 years (my husband being a South Bend native has been going here longer). It used to be affordable and good, but ever since Covid, like so many restaurants, the quality has gone down while prices skyrocketed. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken which had several chicken pieces that were inedible and looked like they were fried many times. Our general tso's was nothing but fried breading, no chicken to be found. It wasn't worth the $20 per person. We ended up having to cook a frozen pizza later because we were still hungry. I hope they go back to their original quality. For now, we won't be back anytime soon.
Larry Potterbaum: Wonderful food. Servings were huge. Food was served hot and fresh in short order. However my husband ordered shrimp but the waitress insisted he ordered chicken. He really liked it though. My sweet and sour chicken was delicious but there were only 2-3 pieces of green pepper and pineapple. I couldn't find any tomatoes. I was also concerned about cleanliness. Both the outside and bathroom doors were dirty and the fish tank was cloudy with algae growth. All in all if they cleaned better I would come back.Vegetarian options: Plenty of items to choose fromKid-friendliness: Family style diningParking: On site
Luke Atkinson: First time getting food here. Ordered chicken fried rice for takeout. Got shrimp, beef and chicken in it. Which sucked as I don’t like shrimp and that’s all I could taste in the meal. Didn’t know it was the wrong order until I got home.
Lenise Winston: Had to send my shrimp fried rice back to the kitchen because it was cold .was told that card machine wasn't working after we had eaten the food, thankfully I had some cash on me ,was a little upset could have said something earlier before ordering 50.00 worth of food. Overall I think I will end it here.
David Drabecki: This place had plenty of seating for your family or family get-together a great place to eat and good foodFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Anita Wood: The egg roll was extremely greasy and the roast pork was beyond fried to a crisp and no flavor whatsoever and food was a little cold side very disappointed what happened this used to be a great place
Jose Gomez: Atmosphere: 5/5More
Christina Cameron: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes General TSO's Chicken 左宗鸡, Sweet and Sour ChickenMore
Matthew Klemczewski: Very clean interior and quick service usually only a 10 minute wait for carryout. Sauce is very good and soup seems freshly made compared to other Chinese restaurants. Prices are fair and the lunch special is around $8 for combo eggroll and soup
Cassandra Butts: Overall 5 stars because wow. The food was literally amazing and perfectly priced. A total gem!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Todd Skwarcan: take out was delicious!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Magnus Wu: Fun spot for old school Chinese food and vibe. Loved the Singapore chow fun and fish in black bean sauce. Loved the veggies added to these dishes too. Also love that it’s a family owned business
Mr. Spo: Sweet and sour chicken was overcooked. Very sparse with the vegetables and fruit that normally accompany this dish. Can get fried rice at no extra charge when lunchtime but not dinner. Egg drop soup was to salty. Have eaten there often. This time was very disappointing. Also had a language barrier challenge when ordering this time.
Sky Gredy: It had been a few years since we had Mandarin House, but the Chicken & Shrimp delight was not how I remember. While the pork fried rice & eggroll were decent. The meat in the chicken & shrimp delight had a cheaper, fattier, mushy texture. Service was fast and courteous. This is a restaurant I've loved for decades, hope they change their meat vendor!

J.W. Chen's: what do users think?
Pablo Lacayo: Been there three times in the last week and a half. Great experience all the time, great environment, great pricing. Always a nice time to take friends for a tasty time and good company.
ORA: Best yet
Vickie Elaine Harris: I love this place I ordered some pork belly and cabbage it was very delicious and shrimp egg foo young i was disappointed shrimp was tough i was unhappy on March 31,2023 few minutes before they close they was so kind and friendly I enjoyed my food I will be back regardless if they was about to close with a friendly smile they prepared my food they were very nice and sweet and there place was clean with great parking, service was fast food had great taste
Golden DomeCab: CHEN's Chinese family restaurant dinningGreat happy atmosphere very attentive great pricesNear ND area in a plaza easy in easy out parkingParking: Plenty of spaceWheelchair accessibility: One level entry
Laura Puscas: Coming back to town after not eating here for years, we were really nervous after reading the recent reviews. We are so happy to report that the food is as delicious as always. The honey chicken and crispy beef are the highlights.J.W. Chen's has been a long time favorite, especially with how amazing Jean made the experience. The atmosphere was essentially unchanged. We did miss her recommendations, but we had good & friendly service. They said Jean comes in still and was there today around 2.I wonder if something was going on during all the bad reviews, but whatever it was seems to be resolved. I encourage you to give it another chance. It met all of our very high expectations and memories of the deliciousness.
Tim Brooks: Disappointed in the food. Not nearly as good as other places. We'll never go back.Food: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Shannon Kryski: It's always nice to stop by a city staple and visit Danny at JW Chen's. It is unfortunate to see that it was empty when we arrived and hear that ND has drawn most of their business away by building their mini city and discouraging students from patronizing local businesses. I hope that JW can survive, but given the current situation, I am afraid it can't hold out much longer. However, food was amazing as always and we hope to visit next time we are in town!
Brad Sinclair: The service was incredible. The food was delicious. We had the Mongolian beef and the orange chicken. The orange chicken was really saucy.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Mel Roc: Best kept secret near Notre Dame campus! Tasty, fresh food and great prices. Menu is massive and you want to try everything!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Monica Sams: Never dined in but I've gone in to pick up food & the atmosphere is lovely. The employees are very friendly. Service is very fast. Food is delicious & filling & well worth every penny. All in all an excellent establishmentFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Heather G.: Went for lunch today and the place is definitely way less busy then older days. My food was the same as when Jean was owner the crispy chicken was still delicious. Rice was not very warm so they replaced it no problems. The place could use a face-lift and definitely a good scrubbing, especially the bathroom. But our experience was not nearly as terrible as some of the reviews on here.
Luis Tejada: They had amazing food and the best service I've ever had when we dined in, would recommend and will return soon
Emmerson Denney: Very very good American Chinese food, and a decent amount for the $11.50 price for a dish. The staff was wonderful. I have traveled extensively all over China, and I would say that the sauces were as authentic as possible given what is available locally. Not a lot of Chinese vegetables of course, for the same reason.Yes, the plates were real plates. I’m not sure if anyone bothered to ask if their dishwasher was broken or something, before leaving all the nasty reviews here. Everyone is a critic these days, of course!
David Bao: The most restraunt ever
awooga baoer: The food is great, but the waitress is better! She's cute but she wouldn't give me her number, hence the 4 stars.
Jeffery Bao: Great place! The price was very good and the food was both good and came fast. Good place to come with friends, and the take out is very easy.
Victoria Deter: Amazing service and amazing food!!
B N: New owners, so we wanted to try it out as we used to be regulars. Horrible. Im sure Jean would be very upset. We ordered online and picked our food up to eat at home. Small portions, the sauces were horrible, the Imperial dinner had 1 crab Rangoon and one spring roll, and never allowed me to choose which soup I wanted. Only $4.5 but still a waste. Even the fortune cookies felt cheaper and not as good!! Very, very disappointing. Save your money and go elsewhere!!!
Martin P: Old owners were really nice and sat down with us every time with Chinese language menu. Not sure about the new owner
John Riordan: By far the best Asian food in south bend, always enormous portions too. Just wish they would reduce their waste and stop using disposable plates and silverware for everyone, even eating in.
Mark Ursa: While the food was acceptably palatable and the service friendly, I will never eat here again. I have never dined in a sit down restaurant that served its food in to-go containers. Everything was served in either plastic or a styrofoam container. Even the utensils were plastic, and the water was bottled instead of being in a glass with ice. I think that's incredibly tacky!

The Skillet Restaurant and Catering: what do users think?
Rob G: The Easter dinner was not good. After waiting over an hour for pick up, we received ham that was tasteless, very mushy sweet potatoes, and a slice of pie that wasn't even an inch wide. To add, the lady in the short blue skirt in the parking lot was extremely rude. You need to have a better system.
Robert: Very cheap low qual food. There "spicy green bean" was straight out of a can, I know cause I eat canned beans. Goulash looks great on the desc but 95% instant mashed potato and almost no sauce or meat. Cash grab w very cheap food. Be warned.
Cira Strycker: Cabbage over power the food was all over the place sausage had no flavor chicken was old gravy was over salted cookie was no good......
Rose Marvin: went to the skillet for a st. patricks day dinner - so disappointed - there was more fat on the corned beef than meat. the cabbage had so much vinegar it was not edible. even if no one tasted the food - which shouldn't be the case - someone clearly seen how much fat was on those cuts of meat - unacceptable!

Liliana Sirko: great food but not really authentic. we don’t eat this in Poland. my parents laughed. I was so excited for good polish food to bring back the taste of home. I was disappointed. good for the value though.
Patty Baker: Not open too often, so if you see a line of cars on a Friday evening, get in it. They only have carry out.No need to see a menu, just order the Polish dinner ( sausage, chicken, potatoes & gravy, noodles, cabbage, green beans, dinner roll and a cookie for $15). Yes, you really get all that. If you tip the lady who comes out to the parking lot to take your order, she'll serenade while you wait for your order. In just a few minutes you'll have take home yummy-ness!!! If you're a hearty eater it's a ton of food., or it could be dinner for 2 if you're willing to share.
