Robert Wantz: In the process of removing my rear license plate on my Lexus I broke one of the two rusty screws holding the plate on. I then decided I needed help removing the remaining portion of the broken screw and thought of Meineke since it was nearby to my residence. I took it in, a technician looked at it, and we made an appointment. At the predetermined appointment time the service writer wrote the ticket up she said she was writing it up for an hour but if it was less I would be charged less. Occasionally I looked outside, where the mechanic was working on my car in the parking lot, and didn’t see much progress being made although I was a good seventy feet away. It started to rain but he was out there a bit and after a while he moved it inside to a bay that had been empty a while. (All along there were some bays that were empty from the time I arrived until I left). At that time I was within fifteen feet of him and could observe him closer. It appeared he removed the screw in about fifteen minutes. The remainder of his time there he disappeared where I couldn’t see him or he was trying to find a proper screw from the bunch he brought back. Eventually, when he was about completed, I noticed he had installed my license plate frame was BEHIND the plate. I informed him of this and he corrected it.Less than an hour after the job was started the service writer told me it was finished and I mentioned I should get the veterans discount (the license plate actually is a Navy Veteran plate). She then told me that’s only for parts and doesn’t apply in this case. I was then given the invoice and it was $163.84. $163.84 !!! I asked what their hourly costing rate and was told that was it.Incidentally, on the back of the single page receipt I was given is printed very lightly and illegibly printed statement of warranty (?) of some sort with printed framework around the border.I am EXTREMELY disappointed and will never return to Meineke and be sure to inform fiends.Service:General repairs maintenance

I was told that the front control arms needed replaced soon because they were deteriorated to the point that they could go at any time and I would lose control while driving. Then the mechanic asked me if I heard noises or anything...inferring there was nothing wrong. At the end they said I needed all new brakes which was not accurate per Tuffy. They tell me my wheel bearings are fine but the noise was coming from my transmission. That was $500. Traci Bell: I needed a throttle body repaired according to this location due to my acceleration dying when I turned the the heat on in my vehicle. Got it diagnosed: the first red flag was they put the wrong name on my vehicle; put the name of the guy that came in after me. Oh well, mistakes happen right? Got the diagnosis. Then they stated the part was ordered and I scheduled a repair day after payday. Second red flag. Turns out they didn't order the part. Oh well, I'm still getting a part that they had at a different location brought to them so might as well stick to it. As I'm driving my "repaired" vehicle, it was fine at first. But that evening my vehicle's reving goes far too high upon starting it and goes 20-35 MPH without even touching the gas! So it seems to me they did a shoddy, incorrect, and neglectful repair job. I brought in some parts for tyrods they installed them but because they didn't find a cotter pin in the customer supplied parts, Midas on Coldwater Road, chose to both neglect informing me that the cotter pin was absent, and they by choice DIDN'T care to install it!!I think any technician who intentionally does not install a cotter pin where one is needed is intentionally Neglectful!!

Cody Williams: Took car for radiator replacement with a quote of $678. Was called and told the price would be nearly $900 to fix. Told them I was quoted far less, and the reluctantly agreed to do it for quoted price. Get a call a few hours later stating my coolant reservoir was "completely blown out and would not hold fluid." Then was told it would be a little over $300 to fix. I stated I could fix that myself. Picked up my truck, took it home and popped the hood. Coolant reservoir was completely full. Although, the fluid inside was obviously in bad shape. Fallowing morning my engine light came on for the first time since I got the truck, didn't even come on with bad radiator. Upon changing my oil, I noticed my oil pan bolt was extremely loose. After draining oil found that my engine oil had been drained down to half it's proper amount. Also a few new noises also popped up that same day. After reading reviews online I found that this location has a history of malicious Acts against customers that do not want to pay for extra work.

Miss J: I wasn’t going to leave a review because although my car repair service was not good the staff are all really nice.Nevertheless nice doesn’t fix cars.I brung my car up to Midas due to reduced engine power and my car was shaking and making knocking sounds. They did a diagnosis and told me I needed brakes and rotors (that will stop the shaking and knocking) as well as a throttle body injection to stop reduced engine power.Ok? So I declined rotors and brakes but asked will the throttle body stop my reduced engine power & the mechanic said “Yes.”Approximately 3 days later my reduced engine light came back on along with “service ESC, service Traction, and again Reduced Engine Power.”I bring the car back to the shop I am now told I need an accelerator paddle (and the mechanic said he didn’t know why they did my throttle body without doing accelerator paddle)which is an additional $346.35 (I’ve already paid $619.05 for throttle body injection.) I also got someone else to do the brakes and rotors like the mechanic said I needed well? The man that did my breaks and rotors said they were not in bad shape at all but if Midas said I needed it to stop my car from shaking and knocking then perhaps it should be done. My car never stopped shaking and knocking and my Reduced engine power along with additional issues are present! That’s not all… Once I was told I need an accelerator pedal I declined it bc I didn’t have the money after all I just spent over $800 for throttle body/brakes and rotors! So I leave and guess what? There’s a hole in my floor covered with a paper floor mat! 😡I call the manager to tell him my experience and all he can say is “I’m sorry they didn’t explain to you the first time all the work you needed and that I have the codes If you want to see them. They were trying to save me money thinking the throttle body would take care of the reduced engine.” What he didn’t know is I have my original diagnosis paper and a accelerator paddle code was not on there no mention of it but it was on my second estimate paper. So ladies and gentlemen I am out of over $800 going to Midas and I still have the exact issues I went in with and a hole in my floor!! Vahn Shannon: I had been a loyal oil change customer for this local shop for years. I am done and never taking my vehicle back again. Since 2020 they seem to have all brand new employees. Since my September oil change I have had nothing but issues with my vehicle. They overcharge by the hundreds and thousands on parts and also charge $100 to just check your car. I took the time to read the reviews for Hires as well as other shops. I felt i had a pretty good idea of what to expect and Hires did not disappoint. To spare the details but make the best point I can, Brian probably could have sold me something I didn't need but he didn't do that. I recently had some unexpected vehicle expenses which were not budgeted for and i didn't need more. They got me right in, called quickly with an estimate, found a minor thing that needed replaced as well and was done before lunch. I will definitely return at the next service interval! Dennis Rice: This store while it's been some time since I've been there to actually purchase anything automotive absolutely nothing has changed. Ordered a part online from their competitor and had to go next door to retrieve my parts and had to call the a number which was actually Hires. And not only did they not have it due to not taking online orders they didn't even offer to take care of it by offer to ordering it for me. And the manager assured me nothing was being charged to my card but apparently while not having the part had no knowledge of how the whole system worked cause I was charged and had that to deal with besides calling around again to find the part I needed. Never again. No matter how the brand themselves.

jared shockey: My wife and I took our car in for an oil change/tire rotation. The morning of the appointment our tire pressure light came on, which seemed like good timing for where it was going. The oil change and tire rotation were the only things performed, to the letter. I worked in the mechanic business, from oil change summer jobs, to certified auto technician for around 15 years in total, I'm no longer in that business. I've literally done thousands of these services and never did I work for a place that doesn't bother to fill up your tire pressure to the correct levels, or top up your windshield washer fluid, nor would such a thing be acceptable at any place I've worked. The fluid I get, it's a small cost cutting measure, the tire pressure light glowing in your face is a much different matter. Along with these things, this place still subscribes to the 3 month/ 3000 mile archaic idea of oil change intervals. The oil is a synthetic blend, which is capable of much longer than 3000 miles ( the car recommends around 5000) and the idea that your oil just goes bad in the engine after 3 months is still baffling to me, why is this still a thing?Keeping with the archaic theme, the man who cashed us out made a very old fashioned, sexist comment to my wife, after I had "made her" pay for the service, to her car... Jordan Delanoy: Took my car in to get the AC fixed. They gave me a $1800 quote to replace everything related to the AC. Looked up the exact parts they quoted me, and every single part was at least double sometimes triple the actual cost of the part. I would never even trust this shop with my nephews remote control car.Btw I took that same car to a different shop and got an estimate for $600 out the door and everything tuffy said was wrong with it was completely inaccurate. All that needed was a new sensor, AC recharged, and some labor. Couldn't be more happy with the work that I actually got done to my car. And I am beyond happy I didn't get it done at tuffy. Never take your car her for any reason. For better service try the Lee's next door cause there might be a decent machic there taking lunch.
